I nearly didn't vote for Ardbeg in this one  , mainly because i'm arranging something for the Wednesday night chat for after when the new Ardbeg releases have had a chance to circulate , but after a bit of a think i chose the Big "A"

As this is the first anniversary of our experiment into "live" internet tastings, perhaps we should celebrate with a really top notch, blow the doors off the competition Single Malt. I would propose that we all celebrate with a series of Ardbegs in the October tasting.

Bring whatever Ardbeg you've got and let's make October 2008 something to be remembered. Sadly, I'll be at Whisky Live Toronto and may not be online on Friday night(the actual first anniversary) unless there's internet available there.

1) Take all the opened Ardbeg bottles.
2) Pour 1 tablespoon of each into as many nosing glasses as you'll require, covering each with a watchglass/cover.
3) Start at one end and see how far you get before the evening ends or your liver "caffs out".
4) Take two Advil and three large tumblers of water before bed.

Wish I had your problems choosing what Ardbeg to drink.

Hopefully I'll be around that day. Right now I've got a standard 10, a Corry, and an Ellenstown. Maybe I'll grab another Uigiedail or young IB too.

Nice! A tasting that I, with my still modest collection, can participate in. :D

I've got the 10, the Oogy, the Renaissance, and the Almost There.

Only the Oogy is open at the moment, but what the hell.... :iwbrnt:

Ok, I'm really looking forward to this one, in case nobody has noticed. :D :D
My lineup is going to go something like this:

Ardbeg 10
Ardbeg Airigh Nam Beist 06
Ardbeg 17 (Thanks Tim!)
Ardbeg LOTI (Thanks Nick!)
Ardbegeddon (Thanks Alan!)
Ardbeg Corryvreckan (Thanks Ras!)
Ardbeg Uigeadail (Thanks again Tim, I just finished my bottle!)
Ardbeg Renaissance (Thanks Tim & Ras)
Ardbeg SMWS 33.66 (Archive sample, had to dig it out)

Also I'm hoping that the Blasda that Ganga and I ordered will arrive in time too!

I don't think I'm forgetting any, but if I am I'll add them at a later date. Also for anyone here in the U.S. that would like to participate in the tasting, but may not have any Ardbeg at home, I'm willing to provide Ardbeg 10 samples to them. PM me if interested.

Fingers crossed I can make it along to the tasting night. I've got a fair few bottles of Ardbeg open so it would be great to join in the fun.

I will be buying a couple bottles , so u wont be alone with the little selection lawschooldrunk.

Will buy a 10 and one other not sure which one yet, Will only drink Ardbeg on the night tho so will be in the swing of it , i think.

Have taken your advice Willie and checking the expert notes; am currently comparing my Talisker 10 ...

Jim Murray
Nose
A razor-sharp spiciness lances through Demerara sweetness and rich peat. Absolutely magnificent.
Palate
The enormous build up of spice adds to the multi-layered peat. The sweetness is almost like freshly crushed grist. Wave upon wave, layer upon layer of complexity.
Finish
Massively warming and still spicy. The peat lingers while the spice bristles.
Comment
A dram to be savoured and celebrated

One question to everyone , im loving the 'wave upon wave' but not getting any 'demerara sweetness' . is it me or is that a hard one to find. lovely drink tho.

lookin forward to the tasting night

I can currently bring the following:

Ten L8
Ten L8 (new bottling)
Renaissance

I also have a Ten miniature with the first part of the bottling code being 'L3', so whether this is a 2003 bottling or not I'm not sure - don't know if the bottling codes work the same for miniatures or not. Would be good to compare to the other Tens if it was though!

Some pretty impressive line ups there guys , especially Tim and Ryan !
Still undecided on my line up thought of the current off the shelf line up first......
Ten
Blasda
ANB
Renaissance
Oogie
LOTI
Then thought about something along the lines of Tims 2nd one....
VYA
AVY
ASY
AAT
Renaissance

What about a few Committee Bottles.....
What about the independents.....

Oh god too much choice :headbang:

It would be good to try the VYA as well, but I'm sure I'll try it one day.

You have quite the lineup for that day.
