SWEET!! Could it be???
Bring whatever Ardbeg you've got and let's make October 2008 something to be remembered. Sadly, I'll be at Whisky Live Toronto and may not be online on Friday night(the actual first anniversary) unless there's internet available there.
1) Take all the opened Ardbeg bottles.Spirit of Islay wrote:Another Saturday night "Merry" on Ardbeg......
How the hell do you narrow down what your going to drink ?
2) Pour 1 tablespoon of each into as many nosing glasses as you'll require, covering each with a watchglass/cover.
3) Start at one end and see how far you get before the evening ends or your liver "caffs out".
4) Take two Advil and three large tumblers of water before bed.
Wish I had your problems choosing what Ardbeg to drink.

To quote a song.....
Where do i begin.....
i take it most will have the standards (Ten , ANB , Oogie )
Then will most have the Ren , AAT , ASY , AVY ?
Then who knows.....
I've got the 10, the Oogy, the Renaissance, and the Almost There.
Only the Oogy is open at the moment, but what the hell....
Badger 6 yo Ardbeg Milroys
hold on.........I did this line up last week
Anyone opening a Mor to send out samples??
You know you want to.

I was saving the following for a different tasting, but I may think about opening:
Ardbeg Very Young
Ardbeg Still Young
Ardbeg Almost There
I'm also pulling to get a New 10 and a Blasda. We'll see!!!
My lineup is going to go something like this:
Ardbeg Airigh Nam Beist 06
Ardbeg 17 (Thanks Tim!)
Ardbeg LOTI (Thanks Nick!)
Ardbegeddon (Thanks Alan!)
Ardbeg Corryvreckan (Thanks Ras!)
Ardbeg Uigeadail (Thanks again Tim, I just finished my bottle!)
Ardbeg Renaissance (Thanks Tim & Ras)
Ardbeg SMWS 33.66 (Archive sample, had to dig it out)
Also I'm hoping that the Blasda that Ganga and I ordered will arrive in time too!
I don't think I'm forgetting any, but if I am I'll add them at a later date. Also for anyone here in the U.S. that would like to participate in the tasting, but may not have any Ardbeg at home, I'm willing to provide Ardbeg 10 samples to them. PM me if interested.
Will buy a 10 and one other not sure which one yet, Will only drink Ardbeg on the night tho so will be in the swing of it , i think.
Have taken your advice Willie and checking the expert notes; am currently comparing my Talisker 10 ...
A razor-sharp spiciness lances through Demerara sweetness and rich peat. Absolutely magnificent.
The enormous build up of spice adds to the multi-layered peat. The sweetness is almost like freshly crushed grist. Wave upon wave, layer upon layer of complexity.
Massively warming and still spicy. The peat lingers while the spice bristles.
A dram to be savoured and celebrated
One question to everyone , im loving the 'wave upon wave' but not getting any 'demerara sweetness' . is it me or is that a hard one to find. lovely drink tho.
lookin forward to the tasting night

I might buy an Uigeadail and an Airigh Nam Beist before the tasting but will not open them both.
One can never have too many bottles of Ardbeg open Ras!!
Ras Mazunga wrote:You are very right Ryan, as soon as I posted I realised it is gibberish.
It's ok Ras! I'm really looking forward to this tasting. I've got lots of nice Ardbeg samples to try already, with more on the way!
Ten L8 (new bottling)
I also have a Ten miniature with the first part of the bottling code being 'L3', so whether this is a 2003 bottling or not I'm not sure - don't know if the bottling codes work the same for miniatures or not. Would be good to compare to the other Tens if it was though!
Still undecided on my line up thought of the current off the shelf line up first......
Then thought about something along the lines of Tims 2nd one....
What about a few Committee Bottles.....
What about the independents.....
Oh god too much choice
I manged to add 2 more to my lineup, thanks to the Good Dr. E!
