The old Irish 'baby' bottles would be perfect for this as they're 71ml, based on the old measure of a 700ml as a 'ten-glass' bottle. Any idea where we can get some? I can provide a Knappogue alright (12yo nc Bushmills) and if the humour strikes me I may include something else as well, IF I have the bottles....

I've got bottles that have printed 50ml on the bottom but can contain up to 64ml.
So 6cl is the best imo.

I reckon I'll just about be able to get enough bottles together for everybody but they will be recycled sample bottles  hope everybody will be ok with that..... I'll give them a good clean though.

I confirm I have the Connemara CS, and I have already given Mikeymad his sample plus Ganga's sample.

I am sending ryguy's sample off this week, and I think I need to send Wave a sample too. Anyone else?

Sound out boss!

Could all like-minded fellows send me their addresses for some Knappgue Castle 1994 and a mystery malt.

Hi All, been too busy to post for the last few days.

I have most of what's on the list so no need to send samples to me. To be honest that Saturday is the nearest to the wife's birthday so I'll probably not be around for the tasting anyway.

That said, I'd like to help the event on as best I can so I'd be delighted to send a sample of the Redbreast 15yo to anyone who needs it. Probably the simplest thing is for any of you who need a sample for the tasting to PM me your address and I'll get them away in the next few days.

Okay guys some good news and some bad news .....

I'll start with the bad news ....

..... for the life of me I cannot find my SMWS Cooley bottling.

I sold a good few bottles to one person lately so I hope I have not given him a little bonus by mistake :o in saying that I still have over 200 bottles which are in a total mess and it would not surprise me if it was lurking somewhere.

Anyway for the good news I have substituted it with another peated single cask cooley but to make up for it I have also included a sample of Jameson Signature Reserve (Travel retail Only). So I'll post out later today or in the morning.

I have included the following

Willie JJ
Collector57
Cathach
Aidan
Ras Mazunga

(and Iain B as he gave me a lovely sample not so long ago)

JC are you getting involved in the sample swap ... let us know if you are or are you just joining in with your own stock.

In saying that if any lurkers out there have just one or 2 of these please feel free to join us any way.

Cheers

Adrian

I'll probably jump in, schedule permitting. Not 100% certain what's lurking in the cabinet, but I think I have 2 expressions of Jamesons, some Clontarf, one or two Bushmills, and maybe another lying around. Sounds fun!

Unfortunately all samples from IWC didn't make it. Thanks for sending new ones.

The samples from Cathach arrived in one piece. The mystery sample has a label with L. 8 on it. I wonder what it is, from the bottle it smells awesome. Thanks.

Hi All

Is there something I can send out?

I have the Michael Collins single malt and Redbreast 12. I'm sure I have some other stuff too. I'll have a look.

Hi Guys, I've been laying low for the last while as I've been quite busy.

Just to clarify....

We are holding the tasting on Saturday the 15th of November.

What is the GMT kick off time?

Good stuff,

I have malt aside for JCSkinner, any other Irish natives that require a parcel?

Hi Cathac, just to let you know I've not got anything from you yet. Hope it has not gone missing. I'm not opening a Knapp especially for this as I have too many open as it is.

I am also completely disorganised. I'm unlikely to be organised before the tasting as I'm not at home much this week. I'm a scatter-brain. I'll send stuff out at some stage, though. It may be next week!

A late entry - I should be able to join in on this on Saturday night. I've been drinking Black Bush for years, but now converted to the even better Redbreast (thanks to this very forum and erm..... Waitrose!).

Unfortunately, I'm unable to mail anything out at this late stage but if anyone local wants samples of any of the following from my Irish list just PM me:

Clontarf Single Malt
JMR Smooth Sweeter One (I know, not technically Irish but a 'Gaelic vatting' of 70% Cooley and 30% Bunny)
Black Bush
Bushmills 12 Select Casks (duty free)
Bushmills 16
Jameson Crested Ten
Redbreast 12

I'm looking forward to it and will be more organised for future tastings to share samples around.

This will be a good opportunity to finish up my Clontarf Trinity set - I haven't sipped these in quite some time, so I'm looking forward to revisiting an old friend! Will also be tasting a Redbreast 12 (courtesy of Ryguy), a Midleton 2005, several Jamesons and Bushmills. . .should be a good evening, assuming nothing critical pops up between now and then!!

Hmm, I've got more than I initially thought I had:

Clontarf Trinity
Connemara CS (C57)
Greenspot (Ras Mazunga)
K94 12yo - Is that a Knappogue Castle by any chance? (catach)
L.8(?!) (catach)
Mystery Malt! (catach)
Tyrconnell 15yo, cask 348/92 (cathach)

Also have a Bushmills 10 miniature on its way, so with 10 samples I think I'm pretty set for this one! Looking quite good I'll be at home on Saturday too, so fingers crossed...

Just wondering can we get an updated tasting list. It seems that Knappogue and Green Spot have made it onto the list among others.
I appreciate there may be a bit of a free-for-all given that different people have different bottles open at home.
I don't do Tyrconnell, so I'll sit that one out, and the only Greenore I have is a sealed 15 yo, but Saturday might be the night to crack it open. The 12 yo Jamesons I have here is the distillery reserve also. I'm no great fan of the standard release.
If people don't object, I'll be looking to taste Bush, Knappogue 94, Redbreast, Green Spot (if I remember to buy another bottle), and maybe the Greenore 15 yo.
I might taste the Bush 16 yo or 10 yo in place of the Tyrconnell, and I'll taste the Distillery reserve Jamesons in place of the standard 12 yo.
Am I missing any on the formal list? Other than Knappogue are we doing any other Independent bottlings? And is the basic Bush really the only Bush we'll be tasting (again apart from the Knappogue)? Late in the day for me to suggest this, but a couple of quid more gets Black Bush which is a much superior dram...

Okay there seems to be a fairly extensive line up on the European side ... not sure about US.

Looks like we will have a good mix of the following. Whiskies in bold are the core tasting whiskies I think as well as the exchange whiskies in italics.

Blends:
Jameson
Bushmills Original

Pure Pot Still:
Greenspot
Redbreast 12yo
Redbreast 15yo

Single Malt:
Bushmills 10yo
Connemara CS Peated
First Spirits '92 8yo Cooley Peated
Cadenheads '92 16yo Cooley Peated
Tyrconnel NAS

Single Grain:
Greenore 8yo

I may be a bit late but hope not as I'm up on a whisky raid in the north
