Matt or anyone else, do you know the ABV on this?

Edit: Found it 51% :D

Hi Everyone, finally got connected, 12 best with a little water, same as the 18, the 15 I like as it comes, rich and sweet, just what you want from your ideal partner in life but perhaps a little older.
How are we all doing?

Glenfiddich 21

The nose is very deep, sweet.
The taste is sweet, soft, rounded, almost too sweet for me.
The finish is dry and sweet
I'm not sure about this one. Very pleased to have tried it. Though I'm not sure I would buy it. Definitely different!

Hi there
Yes, we were a little surprised by the difference the water made to the NAS and 12yo.

The 21yo now.

Nose: Chocolates, quite nail-varnishy, orange jelly, much more wood
Palate: Syrupy fruit, rich
Finish: Dry and spicy.

Longest finish so far and a whole lot better than the 18. I like this.

Hi Ian
Great to have you here. I'm doing great. I've tried the 12, 15, 18, 21 and Toasted Oak 12. I've enjoyed the Toasted Oak 12 and the 18 most.

Hi Ian I'm just enjoying the 12. It's quite light the comments about citrus wood and floral notes are all their. I think this whisky is good as an aperitif something to enjoy before dinner.

Very glad to have you here Ian!! So far the 18 has been my favorite, with the 15 a close 2nd. But now I'm onto this Duty Free CS 15yo, yummmmm. I just prefer whisky at Cask Strength.

Not sure if this has already been asked, but Does Glenfiddich plan to do any regular bottlings at CS? I'd love to see it personally.

Cheers,
Ryan

This 15yo CS (duty free) bottling is outstanding, I want one!

Hi Ian, good to see you got connected.

I'm on to the 30 now, while the 18 seems to introduce the wood, the 21 shows what else happens with age, and the 30 puts them all together. I'll have to take some time over this one.

Overall the 21 really impressed me...

On to the 12YO now, not very keen on this one, rather watery and insipid. Finish ? What finish?

Glenfiddich 15yo Cask Strength (Duty Free) 51%

Glass: Glencairn
Water: None
Color: Light gold

Nose: Toffee and chocolate and very rich and full flavored.

Palate: Sweet, and very nicely full bodied, and also rich. The added proof here really makes a difference. Much more going on than the regular 15. Oranges are still present, as well as some spice, not cinnamon this time though.

Finish: Definitely the 15 on steroids, spiked apples and oak for a wonderful finish.

Thanks a bunch Ganga!!!! You da man!

Going through a range of 5 Glenfiddich's like this has surely given me a great apprecaition for Glenfiddich. I've always liked the 12 Special Reserve, so I'm really glad that I could try such a range. The 15 CS is where it stops for me as far as samples. After trying the following I'm going back for seconds!

Glenfiddich 12yo Special Reserve
Glenfiddich 12yo New Label
Glenfiddich 15yo Solera Reserve
Glenfiddich 15yo CS Duty Free
Glenfiddich 18yo Ancient Reserve

Thanks go out again to Ganga and OKDiver1 for providing me with most of these samples, without you both this would have not been possible for me. I agree with you Willie, I'm excited to try more Glenfiddich at this point and I can't wait to go back later and read all of the notes. I can easily see myself going out to purchase a bottle of the 18yo at this point. It is worthy of a space in my cabinet.

I've tried the 30yo...
Nose: Quite bold and enticing. Wood, tea, light fruit, not sure what sort - maybe melon.
Palate: Sherry and chocolate. Fruit, but not light as with the nose.
Finish: A little smoke, dried fruits, ginger.
Not a hint of the 12yo's floweriness. Much woodier, and has that in comon with the 21. Fabulous nose, and I like the depth of this one.

I've just enjoyed the 15 whilst watching the second half. Extra time to go.

I have to agree with Nick Oranges and toffee an absolute delight. One thing these tastings show me is how good so many of these whiskies are and we don't explore them enough. :)

18 next for extra time.

Hi Arkle
It seems like I am really just not getting the 21 and 30 year old tonight. Tonight the 21 makes me think of a dessert wine. The 30 is a bit broader on the nose for me but also along the same lines. I certainly enjoyed the nose on both and am going to call it quits tonight and come back to them another day.
Cheers
DFI

Nick in the grand scheme of Glenfiddich things. Where would you put the Solera?
