I need a bottle that I can put aside and not drink until a significant event happens. What significant event? can't really say.
The most likely ones are:
Finishing University Part-Time (~6 Years away)
20th Anneversary (10 years away)
Significant years for me are:
1971 - I was born
1989 - graduated high school
1991 - met my wife
1997 - married my wife
I've picked a few bottles that I can get and are interesting. I enjoy many drams, Jura & Ardbeg are at the front of my cabinet right now, with The Glenlivet 18, Balwenie DW not too far behind.
I included the Ballentines 21 as I really enjoyed it at Whisky Live. The rest are speculation on my part.
Though sub $100, the PREMIUM BOTTLERS WHISKY WORKS BOX looks interesting - see http://www.premiumbottlers.com/whiskyworks.php and let me know what you think.
I just stuck a '71 Glenfarclas aside for my 40th, but that's probably a bit over your budget. Not sure how prices translate over there but given the current exchange rate, maybe a nice Brora? Can get them over here for £100 so that's $200 maybe?
Fresh cut grass in the distance, Sweet Malt, apple drops, ripe pear & lemon citrus washing liquid.|
Slight touch of ash on the tip of the tongue but no real sign of the smoke. sweet spices - liquorice. Burnt sugar.
Waters away fairly quickly at first but lingers all the same. Sweet with a touch of pepper and spice at the sides of the tongue and quite woody at the very end.
A lovely easy drinker
