How much are you drinking?

Postby martin grant » Fri Jun 22, 2007 1:50 pm

Most weeks I'll have a drink 5 nights a week. Usually I'll take Monday and Tuesday off, give myself a wee rest. When I do drink I'll probably have a couple of drams in the house. If one unit of alcohol is one dram, one glass of wine or a half pint of beer, how much are you drinking?

By the time you add in a couple of glasses of wine (and the odd cocktail!) I reckon I get through about 15 units a week. How does this compare with everyone else?

Martin cocktails don't count they are free units . As they are girly dinks and come under the banner of slimfast.

Sorry, should have previously mentioned - same rule applies to white zinfandel

5-10 units...I think (or perhaps I should say, hope)

I've gone down to limiting a 'dram' to 1cl if I'm tasting a lot in an evening. Otherwise, I pour 2-3cl and usually not have more then 2 drams. Neither my body nor my budget whishes to be stretched to the limit so I'm quite happy with small amounts. And heck, if I really want to enjoy the evening I pour something from Islay which afterwards stays in my mouth and nostrils for another half an hour or so. Lovely finishes always.

Around the 20 mark for me with about 6-8 units being beer, the rest being whisky.

Missus normally makes up cocktails when I have whisky so maybe a couple of these too (but they're just juice and don't count).

TFI Friday

I'd have to say 5 or 6 but since I haven't used a shot glass in 30yrs it's probably closer to 10.

I might say two fingers worth but depending on the stress of the day that could be 2 and thumb's worth ...or 1st and 4th.

One drink before dinner, another drink while eating. After eating, none. So that adds up to two.

If I am on vacation, all restrictions are off. I drink whenever I like too.
