Come on Ardbeg, go Ardbeg!! (Gotta beat Lagavulin, and the rest!) I say so cause I started with Ardbeg! I smelled the Ten one night, instantly falling in love, and the rest is whisky history for me. The others are good as well, very good in fact, but Ardbeg is one of a kind, way out there, special stuff, magical! Aaaaahhh, Ardbeg!

My thoughts exactly!

I started also with the Ten.
I once tried some Lagavulin and instantly threw up... 8)
My friend collects Lagavulin and likes them but everyone else seems to just hate that nasty stuff.

I am very glad Lagavulin is doing so well, considering there is "generally" only about three versions available. Beats the socks of Ardbeg for me.

I still remember my first Lagavulin 16yo Image

Rushing back from the supermarket, staring at the bottle, nosing it mmm inky lapsang souchong and soft oily peat. Put away about 20cl that evening. At the time I was convinced I would never taste anything better and it's still a favourite.

Not bought a bottle in over 18 months :(

...perhaps I was a little drunk at the time...

That occasion dram...drau...traumatized me for the rest of my life. Or not.

Like Admiral I'm basing my decision on the more ordinary offerings.

Laphroaig for me as I adore the QC and realy like the 10yo but the Lagavulin comes very closely behind the Lap QC. The Laga 16yo is an amazing whisky too and as said a brilliant offering as the standard bottling from a distillery, however depending on form sometimes it's too sweet  .
