It is popular in some areas of Ireland, but I don't know anyone who drinks it. It was the old Cork Distillers drink, so it used to be popular in Cork, but now most Cork people drink Powers. Of course, it was a different animal back then. Now it's the only (I think) blend make from grain, malt and potstill whiskey. Nearly always mixed with something.
The malt they make in Midleton is only used for blending (now only in Paddy), apart from the Erin Go Bragh, which is no longer being made. They make a malt once every 8 years.
In fact, the blend you made contained more types of whiskies than probably anything being made.
