Nick Brown wrote:I don't see why it should be particularly collectible. Longrow never has been collectible so far, the presentation is nothing special, it is a second label for the Springbank distillery and at £80 for a bottle of 18yo it looked overpriced to start with.

I still contend that the "run" on this bottling was orchestrated to make it appear underpriced with a view to making a fast buck.

The Longrows distilled before the 1990s are highly collectible and fetching high prices. It was excellent stuff and difficult to find. The Longrow 18 YO is in the same league as those old ones and the 18 YO has been sold out in UK within hours. Springbank does not make a simultaneous worldwide distribution, so the UK allocation is already sold out, but many other Europeans countries have not yet been delivered (or the retailers).

I see they're looking for £107.50 for it. The bottle's only a couple of weeks old and the shops are profiteering already. It's a pity its not that brilliant. Lawrence's 'very nice' just about sums it up.

Dont be too hard on him ... he gets most of his stuff through G + M, so there would be their mark up in between.

I heard (but not verified) Sukinder put the price up of his to £100 and still sold them.

I picked one of these up last week from Cadenheads, does anyone think it's worth opening yet?

Has anyone noticed on every Longrow 18yo - on the top of the main label - there is a scuff mark - and it is on every one ..

wonder why?

I can tell you Dog.I bought one of these and the top of front label rubs against the inside of the box when closed removing the blue ink along the top of the label.

Just picked up a bottle of this for list price ina shop in London. I tell a lie, I actually traded a bottle of something else of the same value for it as I have been wiped out by my trip to Islay! We had a dram of the Longrow 18 while we were there as a friend kindly opened his bottle. He told us they still had it in one of the shops on the island for £90, but when we got the next day they had just sold the last bottle.

I shlept around the obvious places in London yesterday and found a place with 2 bottles left, at just over £90 a bottle. Didn't have the money but they took the exchange, which was good of them (I think the bottle they took will take a slightly lower rise in value, but still a good one none-the-less, and it was a bottle that I had returned with 2 of from Islay). I was pleased with the swap.

This is an awesome whisky. I see whiskyfun give it 5 stars, and quite right. An excellent dram.
