Some Passport Scotch with a splash of Johnnie Walker Swing. Both have a nice smokiness to it and is a nice sit out look at the stars sort of sip.

What are you drinking now?

Postby Nimesh » Thu Apr 02, 2015 7:02 pm

I am very sad because I am nursing my last 'dram' of a local brand named 'Amrut' for today.
My bottle stands angry and empty. 'Did you actually finish all of me?' She asks..
I usually sip down about 180 ml straight a night or a little over 6 ounces.

I use to drink 5-6 nights a week but have lately been able to cut down a bit.

Jokes apart my question is that will a higher quality or better distilled Whisky be less toxic to the liver and or esophagus than a cheaper lower quality beverage? Or is the impact based only on the percentage and amount of pure alcohol?

I suspect that Cadenheads Islay is in fact Lagavulin, hence the reason I'm going to sample some Islay shortly.

I like Sprongbank, a lot myself. Very nice distillery tour, you can take all the photos you wish at Campbeltown, although it was difficult to find the alley at first. Cleverly disguised with a Church going one way.

Ganga:
It would appear that the mystery malt, the Cadenheads Islay CS is a Lagavulin. I did a head to head with the 16 yo 43% Laggy and the nose is nearly identical, at the very least the same family. Colour of the CS is pale yellow as opposed to the reddish gold of the 16. The palate is spicy and warming for both of them and the finish is nearly identical with a warming and long spiciness and sweetness.
A very nice dram, quite enjoyable.

Going to a buddies' this weekend to have a tasting and help him denude some of his stock. He has a collection comparable to ol' Musky and I've been invited to help make it smaller. Oh the trials of a good friend. I will try to take notes and post them this weekend, probably Sunday or even Monday. Needless to say there are some great gems just waiting to be tried and I'm not allowed to bring any of mine along.

Dark Storm Talisker, paired with fresh Pickerel. Nice but pickerel is too mild a flavour. Switched to dark chocolate pairing, that was the ticket!

Deanston 12 yo. My first taste of this. Good smooth arrival, no tongue bite.
gentle burn at the back of the throat on the way down. Nice viscosity , evenly coats the glass. After 45+ years of Pipe Smoking my taste buds are toast. So no tasting notes
But I will be buying another when this is finished.

Of course you are feeling awful. It is because you are off alchohol!
