Just finished an old sample of Bladnoch 18 55%. Did someone once say these were all single casks, dunno, but it seems identical to a much later bottling of this that i finished last week.

Anyway, moving onto some Astar. It's got the minty thing going on again. Loads of mint.

Yes Bredman , most of the later Bladnoch bottlings were Single cask just bottled as they needed them at the distillery . Originally they did send them to a bottler to do in batches but i guess it was more economical to do when they were needed especially as they had their own bottling machine .

I think the stuff from the last 5 to 6 years is much improved over the ones I had when I first started out back in the 1990s.

Or, like me, in the 1970s-1980s. Undoubtedly, tighter control over distillation runs, better cask management and greater consistency have all had a positive effect on more recent releases. There seems to be an increased depth and roundness to Glenlivet 12 Year Old over the last few years.
