Old Pulteney 15, G&M. This has gotten really good, briny with gentle sweetness and a creamy mouthfeel.

After dinner, moving on to some 24-year old cask strength Dallas Dhu distilled in 1982... A perfect accompaniment to single-estate dark chocolate from Madagascar.

The Cask of Yamazaki Heavily Peated 1993 #70047

All I had to do is take the scew cap off for the peat reek and bonfire smoke to cling to my fingers for 5 minutes.

Certainly my favorite heavy peat whisky.

Following your lead with this one dramtastic. A similar cask was my highlight of Whisky Live a couple of years ago. This is an excellent dram, tomorrow I will do a head to head with some Islays.

Some Poit Dhubh 12 Year Old to round off Saturday night. Beautiful, 'glossy', Sherry influenced Highland flavours... And then the Talisker peeks through!

I'm just finishing off a Glenmorangie Original and I'm just about to pour a Talisker 10, not the most exotic, but two very fine drops for my money :)

The landlord of my local got a free Ardmore TC for buying 3 Lappy 10s, so I have made a dent in that this afternoon. Now at home with a rather nice G&T made with Cadenhead's Old Raj 55%.

A couple of large Clynelish 12's.whilst watching this evening's game of football.

Drank them slowly and really took in the aromas and flavours of this very good whisky.

A bottle of IPA from Haandbryggeriet of Drammen. Interestingly, they use wild hops growing on the banks of a local stream. And very good it is too! Also had a glass of Ardbeg Very Young.

I found the Old Raj an excellent gin, with much more depth of flavour than most. It was excellent with tonic but really amazing in a very dry Martini. Certainly worth the £25 it retails for over here and even at $45-50 I would say worth a shot.

Double Barrel Laphroaig/Macallan, not quite sure what the Macallan has taken to the party here. Perhaps it has rounded off a few of the rough edges of the Laphroaig which may suit some but I prefer my young Lappy bold, brash and big bo££ocked. Not a bad dram by any means but not greater than the sum of the parts in my opinion.

An almost 180º turn with a follow-up dram of Lagavulin 16 Year Old, which is actually coming across as surprisingly sweet (well.. perhaps not all THAT sweet) after the Bushmills 1608 400th.

Two classics though, no doubt about it.
