Caol Ila 18
Balvenie Doublewood 17
Ileach Cask Strength
Laddie Ten
Bowmore Handfilled, 16 years in a sherry butt
and..... the sherried Laphroaig 'Triplewood'

The Ileach Cask Strength is a very heavy dram, I'd imagine this will be too pungent for a lot of folk

You've tried it then :D . Luckily it is my reserve second bottle as the first is nearly finished. I think I'll keep that one for a while. The sad news is that I think that is the last of the Cadenhead's 1977 Convalmore as I heard that Mark Watt vatted the last of the casks for this bottling. I hope that's wrong, but suspect it is true. Did you ever try the 30yo they did a few years ago? It was incredible too.[/quote]

I haven't tried this one Willie, but i have some of the past Cadenhead's bottlings of Convalmore -- and others. I am a fan of the (lost) distillery.

Just brought a Glenmorangie tasting set, with the original, Quinta Ruban, La Santa, and Nectar D'Or. Enjoyed the port finished Balvenie 21y, so I've been keen to try out some of ones making use of various finishes. And if i like any of these, a full bottle wont set me back nearly as much.

After a few very quiet months in the purchasing field:

G&M Linkwood 1991 20 y.o. Cote Rotie wood finish. Picked up in Toronto at Christmas
(Last one in the province and spectacular)

Arran Amarone Cask Picked up here at the local LCBO. The new assistant manager is another whisky maven. Thankfully!

Willie: You have just over a year to batten down any distillery hatches you may choose. In May 2015, there will be an aggressive Northern Canadian assault on a number of locales throughout the motherland. I am leading the charge and we will be taking liberating prisoners of the warehouses to be returned to the colony.

From the Cadenhead's February outrun the Auchentoshan 21 year old - still surprised I've actually bought something decent from that distillery. Lovely dram.

Then the 'Berlin edition' Craigellachie 14y 55,1% again bit of a surprise so had to snap that up. I always go in thinking of buying X&Y and come out with ABC.

White Owl Whisky, made in Calgary Alberta by Century Distillers. 40 % abv NAS

I finally purchased a bottle of this whisky. Interesting. It has the nose of alcohol and almonds yet the mouthfeel is pleasant, slightly bitter at first, then you pick up notes of nutmeg and a hint of citrus before it settles onto the tip of the tongue where it sits for a long time. However the initial strike at the back of the throat doesn’t hang around long.

A decent dram, not spectacular but pleasant to the palate. Not what I’d consider a waste of money but I wouldn’t replace it once empty, there are a lot of superior drams out there. In my humble opinion, far superior to Belgiums’ Owl whisky.
