VAT 69

Postby caph55 » Fri Feb 24, 2012 12:03 pm

Hi,
Searching through the attic the other day I came across a presentation case from Wm.Sanderson & Son Ltd with 2 unopened bottles of VAT 69 .
I won this in a golf competition back in the mid 70s at Lytham St Annes GC when they were sponsoring the event but because I didn't drink whisky then it went in the attic.
My real question is can you drink this after 35 years?

Thanks
Phill

I would trust my nose on this one. Open the bottle, serve yourself a glass and smell it.
Could be that the screw has propagetd some taste into the bottle...

Bottom line is, only way to find out is to open the bottle and have a go at it.

Yes, it's perfectly drinkable!! About 3 years ago I bought a Vat 69 that was distilled in the early 60's for my father-in-law. Of course we opened the bottle and poured ourself a nice dram. It was actually pretty good. Much better than the recent Vat 69's!!
