MacAttack80 wrote:Tullamore Dew 12yo - a decent pot still whiskey, not quite as good as Redbreast 12yo but better than the NAS.

Auchentoshan Three Wood - as good as everyone said. Easy to drink yet full of flavors. A good sherried malt IMHO.

I plan on trying the Bushmills 16yo tonite.

I look forward to hearing your comments, I can't remember what this was like just after opening.

I'm also a fan of the Auchentoshan.

Bryce I have to say we really quite liked this one. Our bottle disappeared pretty quickly. Need to get another.

Opened my first bottle of the New Ardbeg Ten last night. I'm the sort of person that buys a new shirt and waits for a while before wearing it. Bought this bottle last October. Man it's powerful I need to spend some more time with it. :)

Caol Ila 18 for me
Like Les i have recently bought an Ardbeg 10 but since initially trying it, after a few weeks have not gone back to it as i found it a little disappointing ( over hyped but i won`t get on my soapbox again )
I also like Lochnagar 12 and for the money is a good reasonably priced malt.

I found a bottle of black bottle at the back of my cupboard last night. It has been open for prob. about 2 years. I had the last 3 drams last night and it was a lot better than i remembered.

Bowmore 18 and Wild Turkey Rare Breed. Still not sure what to make of Bowmore on the whole, it's generally a bit too fragrant for me and the 18 was no different.

Don't know if it was the same cask, but I had a BenRinnes at a recent SMWS event and it was my favorite dram of the night.

The final pour of an HP 12 followed by Lagavulin 16. Talk about a contrast... :D

Lagavulin 16yo (L8 084). More bubble-gum than I remember but actually quite pleasant! Nice peaty finish. I really like this whisky.

Tormore 12.

First and last time due to none too pleasant buttery taste.

Indeed it is, dramtastic.
Might have another one tonight. Yesterday there was Springbank 10, Laphroaig QC and Old Pulteney limited edition 1990.

I might be looking at the Tormore through rose tinted specs but I still really like the old girl. However, I was once racially abused after sharing a bottle of it one day in Italy with an Englishman (who had red hair and was called Keith - he was clearly in denial! ). Later in the year he asked me for a job and I had the sweet pleasure of politely refusing to accept his application....Maybe that's why I like the Tormore. :D

Lagavulin 16 (L8). Don't ever remember picking up a Bubblegum taste before, but still plenty of rich sweet peat. Altogether another very good one, but I miss some of the campfire notes. Who knows, with Laga 16 my next (L8) could have plenty of smoke.

Ardbeg Ten whilst watching Great British Menu from monday. Even though I freeze framed the shot I just couldn't work out the dram Tom Kitchin served with his starter.
