Back in the saddle.
Had some Buffalo Trace followed by The Glenmorangie LaSanta. I know...a strange combination I had some mexican food for dinner....maybe that had something to do with it.
Best one I've tried from them is the 3D3. Which others are actually nice to drink (and not just sit on your shelf as part of a collection!) by 'Laddie?
Balblair 1997 (43%) : Very flavorful and enjoyable, seems like a real BFYB kind of whisky.
Highland Park 1990 (40%): Tastes every bit 40% with too many muted flavors. This whisky begs to be bottled at higher strength. No way would I pay 80 quid for this.
Talisker 57' North (57%): Interesting taste that didn't have me thinking Talisker but BenRiach 'Authenticus' for some reason. Would have liked a bigger sample on this one as I suspect I missed a lot. Yet, it didn't 'wow' me like other cask strength Taliskers.
I very much appreciated the opportunity to sample some whiskies at World of Whiskies. Of course, the necessarily small samples are not the best way to come to some judgment on them. Still, sometimes that's all one gets and in this case I think the Balblair and Talisker deserve a second chance.
