Beers in many other places dont compare I'm sorry to say, therefore single malts wipe the floor with most.
A good real ale is a worthy opponent to a single malt, and luckily it doesn't have to be one or the other.
Stouts and Porters because they offer some amazing creamy and chocolate flavors. And wheat beers offer some incredible fruit flavors. Granted whisky can have creamy, chocolate, and fruit flavors but this is where the alcohol in whisky changes the experience of those flavors.
Beer is more a any day/time type beverage where I consider a scotch a "treat" that I can't AFFORD to drink a lot of
