That wouldn't be The Great Glen, would it? :yuk: Utterly foul stuff; the only whisky I've ever had to pour away.

Tesco Value was almost as bad but at least it was cheaper.

Everybody these days seems to want an ingredients list plastered to everything and in an ingredients point of view it makes sense. Essentially what are the ingredients of whisky? Water and alcohol. Alcohol is never at 100% and always a certain amount of water is present. Even a cask strength whisky is part water including the one I'm drinking now at a scant 38.9% H2O!

Hi there,

40% alcohol 60% water.

Interesting way to put it. And wrong.

If you have 40% alcohol and 60% water you have an almost tasteless fluid consisting of much watered down alcohol.

The 40% alcohol is ok ´cause that`s the law. But it should not read 60% water. More like 58% or 56% and 2-4% flavours or congeners.

Or was it a vodka?

That's my feeling towards 40% whisky anyway. I come from the old school of thinking where as 40% whisky is for women.

I hope I'm not going off topic too much here - but I recently bought some bacon and the packet said 80% pork.

Its a strange world we are living in!
