Nikka Pure Malt Black.

Will have to fill my suitcase with Nikka's vatted malts next time I'm in Japan, methinks.

Especially at the fairly meagre prices you pay for the stuff in Japan. Last bottle only cost me about 14 bucks.
Have you tried the White Ash?

It's the only one I haven't tried! Of the other two I certainly prefer the Black.

Also have noted that over the last two-three months the forum has gone on a kick of killing off bottles and not really opening up as much.

Hi Ganga Batch 29 has been here for about a year now. I had it head to head with a new Batch 31 last night. The 31 was heavier more toffee like and browner in colour. I think I'll problably get another Batch 31 whilst I can.

Stronachie 12 Year Old... Enjoyed this one quite a bit. Smooth, for sure, but also with some depth to it.

Laphroaig 1996 MoS for The Bonding Dram. I won't really miss this one I'm afraid. It was good but not all that.

I believe this was my fourth bottle and for the last two I've been less and less enthusiastic about it. The first time I had it it was the best whisky I've ever had and it stayed that way 'till I tried the Yamazaki 18 (they were similarly priced here). The nose is very closed but the palate can be very interesting, and shifting. The finish on my last bottle left a bit to desire as well. Still it offers rather good value for money in my book, but today I'd rather spend my cash on a Glenfiddich 18 or a similarly aged Islay.

Glenlivet 15 Year Old French Oak Reserve... Quite enjoyed this bottle. That said, though, I'm far more smitten by the attributes of the cask strength Nàdurra, and will focus on that over the FOR now and in the future.
