Postby Whiskist » Sun Jan 10, 2010 9:34 pm

My choices on 'value for money' cask strength Single Malts -

- Aberlour A'bunadh
- Caol Ila Cask Strength
- Glenfarclas 105 cask strength
- Glengoyne Twelve year old cask strength
- Laphroaig Ten ear old cask strength
- MacDonalds Glencoe Eight year old vatted malt

For cask strength whiskies I'd go for so independent bottlings

Dewar Rattray
Duncan Taylor
Wemyss
Adelphi
Bladnoch Forum (best value for money)
Cadenhead (I am rarely dissapointed with their bottlings)
Gordon and MacPhail (most not cask strength thou, but their cask strengths are good)

Aberlour A'bunadh
George T Stagg

I would certainly agree with these:
Laphroaig 10yo C/S
Aberlour A'bunadh
Bladnoch Forum bottlings
Cadenhead bottlings
McLeod 'As We Get It' bottlings

Adding to the IB's are Signatory Vintage Cask Strength and Scott's Selection.

Cheers!

I thought it worth mentioning that the old style Laphroaig "Cask Strength" was not actually cask strength but just bottled at a higher ABV

If we're throwing Laga 12 in there, then definitely Ardbeg Uigeadail should be in there as well!
