Well a new season is upon us. The first three dates are detailed in the link below:-
https://www.royalmilewhiskies.com/gifts/events/
The first, on 23rd January, looks at 5 new releases, details to follow. The next is a closer look at varying distillation regimes: double, triple and what's in between and beyond. The final of the trio is a whimsical look at whisky and food pairings: Whisky, Crisps and Nuts.

So ton'gth's tasting will have us try triple distilled Auchentoshan, Double distilled Glen Keith then Benrinnes, Mortlach and Springbank who all use a hybrid of the two systems. At least one distiller will be there to keep us on track with our pseudo-science.

Re: Royal Mile Whiskies & Drinkmonger events
Royal Mile Whiskies are testing the fusion waters with getting on the band wagon of pairing whisky with cuisine. Keeping it up market there will be experimental pairings of drams with crisps and nuts. Just what will pickled onion Monster Munch go best with?...

Re: Royal Mile Whiskies & Drinkmonger events
The exciting whisk(e)y times we live in continues to blossom - the variety of choice for us enthusiasts has never been so great and the quality is likewise at a peak I believe. The current explosion of production in Ireland will be featured in the next RMW event with the Irish Distillers range being investigated:-
"Liam Sparks, Irish Whiskey Specialist with the Artisanal Brand Portfolio will share his experience and a selection from the incredible Irish Distillers range. With Midleton, Redbreast, and Powers to choose from, his highlights package will be pretty amazing. And, we’ve very politely asked him to bring something from the innovative Method and Madness range. Ticket price will be redeemable against bottle purchases on the night."

Re: Royal Mile Whiskies & Drinkmonger events
While I'm at it - like a lot of people I'm taking a snow day today so trying to use my time fruitfully:-
A chance to hear from one of the world's foremost authorities on the Irish whiskey industry.
"(£15) is refundable against certain bottle purchases on the evening. Please take note of your order reference number as this will act as your ticket.
Location: Royal Mile Whiskies, Edinburgh
Date: Tuesday 13th March
Time: 8pm
A fantastic evening with Peter Mulryan, an Irish Whiskey writer turned distiller. Peter was for many years the foremost writer on Irish whiskey, but in 2015 he founded Blackwater Distillery in Waterford along with some friends. He is therefore able to offer a unique perspective on the history and future of the Irish whiskey industry. After some dark times, is the happy ending around the corner? Are the Irish coming to get the Scots? The talk will be accompanied by some of Peter’s fine gin and one of his Irish whiskey bottling and the ticket price will be redeemable against bottle purchases on the night."

Re: Royal Mile Whiskies & Drinkmonger events
So another plug for this Wednesday's World Whisky tasting:-
Location: Royal Mile Whiskies, Edinburgh Shop
Date: Wednesday 13th June
Time: 8pm-10pm
One of the most experienced and knowledgeable spirits ambassadors around, Stef has promised to bring a sparkling line up from her portfolio of World Whiskies. We have requested some gems from the house of Kavalan (Taiwan), Nikka (Japan) and High Coast (Sweden).
Your ticket price can be redeemed as a £20 voucher against bottles tasted on the night.
And a mention of a new date:-
Tuesday 19th June
A very special evening up at our flagship Royal Mile shop. Guests at this tasting will be the very first people to taste the only UK exclusive cask of An Cnoc in history! Selected and bottled especially for us, it is a real coup for us to have secured this cask, and we will save it for the finale of a tasting of their excellent core range, hosted by Lukasz of Inver House Distillers.
