Can you help?

Postby rubymitchell » Tue Aug 16, 2005 9:17 pm

I recently went to Scotland and thought I'd like to try whisky. Only it seemed complicated choosing from the many different kinds and I've decided I'd like to go to a proper whisky tasting event and begin to learn about it. I live in Brighton but could easily get to London. Can anyone offer any advice about this?

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society has a Open Tasting Monday September 5th 6:30 to 8:30 in their London Members Rooms, it costs £25 for 5 Society malts from the Autumn bottling list, the staff will help you choose. You can also carry on sampling from the bar!

They also have two other tastings September 12th and the 19th. You can book online at or telephone 0131 555 2929 and remember to specify the London venue.

The also have numerous other events around the country in the next few months.

Hi Ruby ,
If you look at this page ... %20England
It'll tell you the ones in Southern England , Guildford and Southampton seem to be the ones nearest you (though been from T'north i might have missed one closer as my geographical knowledge of your area isn't that good ) .
You'll need the assistance of a member to get in (tickets etc ) or even better join yourself ! If you need any further guidance feel free to pop into our weekly chat on a wednesday night from about 8.30pm (at , click on "The Stillroom" and follow the instructions ) and i'm sure we'll try our best to guide you .
