Re: Need help in dating my bottle of Old Parr

It should say so somewhere, on the box maybe or on the capsule? I would assume 40 or 43% but written in the sikes proof system for the UK (70 proof or similar) or US proof for the US market (80 proof etc.). I've just seen an old bottle for the US market declaring 86.8 proof which is 43.4%.

Re: Need help in dating my bottle of Old Parr

Right i'm no expert on this type of thing but yours looks like a screwcap. If it is a screwcap then it was bottled 1960 or later, they switched from 26 2/3 fl.oz. to the metric system in 1980. So somewhere between 1960 and 1980 afaik. If that isn't a screwcap it will be slightly older than 1959. It ...

Re: Storing in Refrigerator?

Best stored at room temperature and kept consistent if possible. Also does over heated whiskey lose any taste notes? Or make the alcohol more apparent? Depends what you mean by overheated. I don't think the typical temperatures to be found in a habited building would effect a whisky so don't worry. ...

Re: 18 year old islays to try?

Ooops forgot to add. I find the Laphroaig 18 jolly good and some of those above not quite in the same league. The Caol Ila and the Bowmore are ok whiskies but not memorable. The Bunna 18 (which is unpeated) is great and very popular, as is the Talisker 18. LovePeat, why so specific on age? The Laga ...

Re: 18 year old islays to try?

That's quite specific :) . Whether your motive is for a peaty whisky at that age or if it's more specifically for an Islay whisky at that age, there are just a few options. Caol Ila release an 18yo at a similar price point and is peated. Bunnahabhain also bottle an 18yo, slightly cheaper but unpeate...

I don't think they have distilled for about 5 years. Whatever the issues are at Bladnoch, be it financial, or rumoured infighting, it doesn't come across as a well run ship.

A pair of Bladnochs: 20 yo OB Ooh i have a little stash of those. I like them both but this is my preferred.... :smoke: Those 20yo Bladnochs are a great whisky at a great price. Re: What are you drinking now?

Tbh Willie i bought a couple small collections of cheap drinkers about 18 months ago from two private individuals. One of them literally from a car boot in a car park. :smoke: £65 :o . I see a couple places selling at an older price of £50+ change, and a few at £70. It's tricky keeping up these days.
