Is it that much better than the 10, cuz I didn't like the 10 at all. Felt like I was drinking a meal.

Re: Talisker 10/DE/18 Tonight

Talisker, blah, blah, blah, tried the 10 recently - alcoholic cod liver oil reminds me of a wonderful Macallan tasting at turnberry some years back. there was this wonderful single cask i fell in love with, and was invited to read my notes to everyone present. Having waxed lyrical in my well dramme...

Re: Macallan Lineup??

I would like to apologize for worrying anyone. I just found out from another source that what I heard was not entirely true. The change in the Macallan line up is actually the new 1824 duty free collection. This will not affect USA expressions! I am not sure about anywhere else but I will find that ...

Re: Macallan Lineup??

I hadn't heard that (not that I would, really) but I can't see them doing that. Age statements on whiskies are so ingrained that I can't help but think that having an entire NAS line would do serious damage to the brand. . .not that the FO series hasn't caused enough problems. . . But who knows?? I...

Re: Macallan Lineup??

I am not talking about vintages. I am talking aging designation like 10, 12, 15, etc. I apologize for any confusion, I guess I should have been more clear.

Re: The Arran Malt Tokaji Aszu finish

I am a big fan of Tokaji dessert wine and I would like to try some Tokaji finished Whisky. Are there any you can recommend besides this one so I have a few options at my local store.
Thank you

Re: Sweetest Whiskey

mkhan, You should definitely try the Macallan 12yo if you liked the 10yo. If you liked the Glenmorangie Nectar D'or , you should try to find the Glenmorangie Port Wood finish or any of the wood finishes (Burgundy, Sherry, Madeira) from them for that matter. The only issue is those have all been disc...

Re: Favorite All Around Whiskey

The one thing I am hearing from everyone is that it is a tough question and it really is. How do you pick just one. I know I can't but I will do my best. I have tried so many that sometimes I don't remember the names. Glenmorangie Port Wood Finish Single Malt Johnnie Walker Green Blended malt Johnni...

Macallan Lineup??

I just heard from a friend of mine that Macallan is changing their whole lineup. That their normal year designations will no longer be on the labels, no years whatsoever. They may still be available in the states for a couple months but they are no longer available in duty free. Have any of you to t...

Re: Vatted Malts, experiences?

I have not drank many Vatted Malts at all. The only one I have had was JWG and I really liked it a lot. I have enjoyed reading all your recommendations in this thread. But, there are so many. Is there one or two that people would recommend over the others that is similar to JWG.

Re: Favourite pre-dinner dram?

I like Macallan 12yo or Tormore 10yo for before dinner. Every so often a single cask works depending on the peaty and smokiness.

Re: Fairly new to Whisky

If you want a good starter Single Malt Scotch Whisky I would recommend Macallan 12yo it has a wonderful taste to it and its not too over the top. And if you wanna drink it on the rocks do so. It all comes down to what you like and how you appreciate your dram. That's how I drink all my single malt s...

Re: Repeat Purchase Percentage

I don't purchase a lot of whisky. Usually, it is a gift and most people buy me Johnnie Walker Blue Label. I have been drinking whisky for about 10yrs now and have tried a lot of different ones. Normally i drink it with my father who has a lot of Single Malts in his collection. My favorites are: Glen...

Re: What do you call it?

I am younger Scotch drinker but I have been drinking Scotch for about 10yrs now. In my family I am always referring to it as Scotch. If it's from Scotland call it Scotch. I don't usually drink whisky from other countries. But, the way I look at it is, refer to it what you like as long as you get wha...
