I've had the Arran 12 and must say it was very good, it took me aback a little that it was so different from the 10. However after a while the sherry showed to be quite excellent. It's a great dram

Balblair Vintage 1989, very subtle but good followed by Arran 12yo, almost like Macallan 12 in some respects.

Re: Dave Broom coming to Toronto??

Frodo was there but his warning was too late; the deed was done. However since I go out of my way to try lots of different whiskies his warning, if delivered earlier, would have simply spurred me on to try it. In any case, now I know. I suspect it must have been sold to the LCBO based merely on pric...

You went to the Elephant and Castle? And drank Glen Parker ?!? Poor misguided souls...had I been there, things would surely have been different! But Mr T, you only call me misguided because you've had Glen Parker, no? Now we both know. It would have been great to see you again, we need to make it h...

Re: Dave Broom coming to Toronto??

Had a great time last night at the Spirit of Toronto. The masterclass presented by Dave Broom on "Silent Stills" (Rosebank. Glencraig, Convalmore and Port Ellen) was the highlight of the night for me. Got Dave to sign my Handbook of Whisky and later that night, he dated it on the advice o...

How I miss the Vaults and all the friends that gather there....sigh. Last night I had a dram of Isle of Arran 250th Robert Burns (6000 bottles) which is a real cracker and thi was followed by a Dewar Rattray 17yo Bowmore which is really good (a cask bottled for a group in Vancouver).

I've an auction closing in an hour (I need the space and no-one I know wanted the bottling at cost). The high bidder is from Belgium. In the advert, I specifically stated that I wouldn't ship outside the UK. I've also e-mailed the high bidder to remind him/her of this condition. What do I do if the...

I've dealt with RMW for a number of years both on the telephone and in person and never found them to be anything but extremely friendly. In fact if it hadn't been for Neil Berrie going that extra mile or two last year I wouldn't have been able to attend the Fringe. We all have off days maybe the i...

We all have off days, the main thing is that you got the bottlings you were after in the end I guess. I have to say that the point is that they are developing a reputation of being rude to their customers. A number of years ago I visited RMW and asked about Port Ellen. I was steered towards a low e...

Lots of peated whiskies, Ardbegs and finsihed off with a Laphroaig 15yo. The Ardbegs were the 16yo Beist, Blasda (which I like) and the Ardbeg. Feel asleep on the couch. There may have been a SMWS Balmenach in there some where too.
