Re: Cadenheads Whisky Shop : last shift

I was paid to live in tents in winter, both mineral prospecting and for Her Majesty. Now I prefer my creature comforts. You are built of sterner stuff than I .

Enjoy the tenting.

I concur with you there. I've sent a PM a number of times now about it to little avail. I assume there are filters in place that block most of them but they are an irritant. You can mark the specific spammer as a "foe" which reduces their existence for you personally but they are still get...

Very kind of them and another reason I personally hold Highland Park in such high regard. I must agree with jmrl t...

Booking Highland Park and Springbank tours

I'm looking for some advice from the locals and the experienced. I've want to contact both distilleries to enquire about booking tours, specifically the "Magnus Euson tour" and the "Frank McHardy tour". Is there going to be a delay in response if I email? Would it be better to ph...

Should I book the Cooperage or take my chances for a walk in? It's one I'd definitely like to see. I hear that the staff are very friendly and fine looking representatives of the Gaelic stock.

21 sleeps but I really doubt that the last sleep will really be much or a rest.

You were misled by the program. One of the tests we apply during our tastings here is to pour a CS whisky in the glass, cover it with the hand and give it a quick shake. A string of bubbles, aka "string of pearls" appears around the edge of the liquid against the glass confirming the whisk...

Two of us will arrive in Edinburgh on Tuesday May 19on the 1055 flight. I think the best we can do will be either a bus tour of the city or a stroll up the Mile to the castle. From past experience I know we will both be exhausted from the flight and time shift.. I suspect we will be sound asleep by ...

The Auchentoshan three wood or the Glendronach 15 is an interesting question. The Glendronach 15 is a pale cousin to the original 15 which was replaced in Canada a number of years ago with the 12. When the 15 came out again, it was a bit of a disappointment, (somewhat like when the Longmorn 15 was w...

Re: Is it OK if whiskey gets really cold?

A bottle may have a statement "non chill filtered". An example is the Glendronch 12 year old. For that matter all my Glendronachs have that reference. Also Benriach states non chill filtered as does Bruichladdich. You basically have to look at the bottle but it doesn't mean that exclusion ...

A cask strength like Aberlour A'Bunadh (59-62 abv) and such like beasts don't chill up at -30 or -40, at least not in an open glass, when I cook outside in winter (Again - it's a Canadian thing) I can't see sticking a bottle of alcohol in the freezer being too damaging if that's how you enjoy your w...

If you chill an un-chillfiltered whisky, the "chunks" will fall out of it and may not necessarily go back to suspension once the whisky is warmed up. I've never tested this to see if there is a detectable change to the flavour and am not about to test it intentionally. Chill filtered whisk...

A wee gift from my lovely wife on her return from The Big Easy. Yes it's open and is wonderful. Has the Talisker nose but the Palate and Finish are hot, sweet and spicy with even the lips tingling with the heat.
