Re: Bunnahabhain Toiteach

Yeah after googling and reading up on it a bit more it doesn't sound too good. Luckily I have only reserved them at RMW so think i'll just cancel that, there's hell of alot of other whiskies for that price and under which I know i like lol. Quite expensive just to try (note to self, research a bit b...

Bunnahabhain Toiteach

Hi i noticed this bottle was coming out on LFW's tomorrows news they quote as saying. 'This special bottling offers the connoisseur an opportunity to try something truly unique and beguiling in nature. The liquid has been masterfully distilled and quietly matured at the distillery, never for a momen...

Re: new collector seeks rare whiskies

Is the first poster nuts? I also want something that will be worth a lot of money in the future but want to buy it cheaply. Who doesn't?? My advice, is do what we all do, read the forums, the whisky magazine, surf the net. We all have to do that to buy cheaply to either drink or collect! THERE ARE ...

Re: Storing whisky upright or lying down?

Thanks very much everyone. I though upright was the way to do it but someone mentioned wine being on its side so the cork didn't dry out so it made me question myself haha.
Cheers

Re: 2009 Cairdeas 12

I signed up to a few distilleries and they are the only ones that i've found to give monthly emails aswell as video blogs and now there on twitter! On top of all that there giving all there f...

Re: The Whisky Barrel Pricing? Where do they get it from!?

Yeah i guess.. What I find interesting if what they price it at. I would of felt between Kilchoman it was maybe equal. Kilchoman being from the 'mecca' of whisky and the first distillery to be built there in over 100yrs and only 2500 of the whisky being released. Yet killerran, 12k bottles. Springba...

The Whisky Barrel Pricing? Where do they get it from!?

Just read Tomorrows news from lfw.com and saw PC8 will be released soon. It made me look at thewhiskybarrel.com to see if they still had pc5 (since they seem to have rare whiskies) I knew already that they marked up Kilchoman by £85 already. Thought I would see what they were deciding to sell Killke...

Antiquery (sp?) anyone have any info?

A Regular in the pub I work in was telling me he has 4 bottles of it that he got 25 years ago and they are 20-30 years old making the oldest distilled in the 1950s! A quick google seemed to suggest it is a liquer? Does anyone else have any information about this whisky and what it's worth might be (...

Caol Ila 18yo? Gone?

Hi I'm wondering if anyone knows if this is offically discontinued or if the distillery have a small amount to release every few months and so therefore just hard to get hold of? I remember a similar problem last year where rmw etc didn't have any in stock and the suppliers to the pub I work at didn...

Re: Duty Free and TSA Rules

I understand what your meaning. In uk your not allowe any liquids in your hand luggage over 50ml or something. however coming home again (from Turkey) they didn't have the same rules so was able to have liquids in my bag and I have never been known ever to be checked on arrival. However, your proble...

Re: Bruichladdich 3D3

Thanks for the advice. I wasn't sure as obviously 3D range is discontinued (Peat being the replacement?) so if i want to try it i don't have long before it's gone for good i guess! Will definately look into 'As We Get It' Islay Cask Strength 8 yr Old as Caol Ila is one of my favourite distillerys. R...

Bruichladdich 3D3

Been thinking about buying Bruichladdich Peat as i've never tried it and i love my peat. Did a wee search on it to see how people rated it and there was a topic on here that mentioned the 3D3 and how people loved it. Question is; the whisky exchange has it for £40. Is it worth buying for that, or sh...

Re: Collecting Advice

get the 15 distillery bottling, its discontiued and also great to drink if it doesn't rise in value. Be carful with whiskyshop.com as their prices can sometimes be on the steep side IMHO. If you looking at the Islay angle an excellent place for info is http://www.spiritofislay.net particularly on A...

Collecting Advice

Just starting out on my collecting journey. Decided to make Kilchoman my starting project buying 2 of each yearly release, one to drink, and one to keep. Which should hopefully build up a nice collection over the years. However, other than that am not sure what to look to buy for investment purposes...
