Maybe try one of the Black Bottle blends ... if you can find them in your area.

Cheers!

Re: Opinions on the following Laddies

The Resurrection Dram is a good one ... I would definitely recommend it. I have written some notes on it, they are here - http://www.rtp3.com/blog/1126

The 16 Bourbon is the next Laddie on my list to try.

PS - Several of the other pages on the site also list whiskies that they offer ... and, if anyone needs them, they offer customs guidelines.

Re: Help with Heathrow offerings?

Since no one else has mentioned it, here is the WoW site - http://www.worlddutyfree.com/pages/index.php/world-of-whiskies.html The site has what is currently on sale, so is slightly useful to do some price comparisons. And, they have a customer service number and email address, which may be useful i...

Re: How many CLOSED bottles do you have?

After discussion with the wife ... we have an agreement that I have only two bottles open at once and can keep one in reserve unopened. This is more to prevent me from buying and opening bottle after bottle without finishing them! But, when I want something else, I can always venture to my college b...

I love bourbon ... and I try to spread the love when I am doing tastings. My standard favorites: Knob Creek - perfect for mint juleps Booker's Bourbon Woodford Reserve Also, remember that there is more to American Whisky than Bourbon ... for instance, one of my new favorites is Bernheim Original Whe...

Re: Traveling to Speyside next month

Went to Glenfiddich with my wife last time we were thru Dufftown and it was a decent tour (pretty standard, but it taught my wife that she actually likes whisky)!

Enjoy! Btw, the pub in the middle of Dufftown (can't remember the name) does some good food.

Cheers!

Re: Washington’s Rye returns

Maybe I can get a hold of one of these when I am visiting home this summer ... going to be not far from Mount Vernon (maybe).

Need to put this on my list ... also, wonder if you can mail order it to an address in the same state.

Cheers!

Jura Fellowship - anybody been?

http://www.isleofjura.com/lodge/detail.cfm?contentid=39 Does anyone know anything about this? Has anyone attended it? It sounds like it could be a great short vacation for me and my wife ... I could spend all day doing whisky stuff and she could read/relax. But, it is not cheap, and I would be inte...

and in terms of the OP, that is really the name of the investment game, which in turn is probably the best argument for buying for future consumption rather than potential liquidation value. besides, even if you buy something for $400 now, and in 20 years it has increased to $1000, its only an annu...

Never had that cask but I have never been disappointed with the Balvenie 15y Single Cask ... and while working at the Bar and doing tastings, I have probably sampled at least 8-10 different casks.

Re: Too much elevation of personal taste?

My personal philosophy has developed from behind a bar and so it is based on the goal of up-sales. In other words, if I know that you like a particular beverage ... lager, ale, whisky, vodka, et al ... then I will try to move you to a different (and more expensive) one. That is one reason that I dev...

What do I normally drink besides whisky? Well, a little bit of everything ... Wine - Having been at an Oxford college, I have had a lot of wine over the last few years, but I favor sparklings (esp. quality Champagne, my favorite bottle is Drappier Millesime Exception 2000 ... when you can find it) a...

Re: What whisk(e)y do you drink?

Was raised on bourbon but have gradually taken to drinking more SM since moving to the UK ...

That said, I still have a soft spot in my heart from good ole' bourbon (or anything that is similar ... like a good Coffey Grain Whisky).

There have been plenty of people that have recommended good scotch ... but if you want something sweet, then you have to go bourbon or maybe coffey grain. Try one of these ...
