Re: What are you drinking now?

Yeah the job market is a piece of work right now. I really hope you land on your feet. I'm broke as well and slowly tapping into the reserves to pass the time. Nothing like a whiskey to warm the spirit.

Re: Balvenie 17yo Sherryoak?

I will definately check out Sunset. I do frequent the B-21 and they have a really nice selection with some Independent bottlings, prices are pretty good but if you head north on 19 you will see Universal Liquors and if you are lucky they have a bottle of Glenrothes 85 for $70. Anyway I will update y...

Re: Best whisky bang for your buck

I voted for the Glenlivet 12 but as an added note I just got a HP12 for $25 and from Balvenie the DW $32 and 10 yr at $30. I would buy these over your list.

Re: £100000 bottle of Whisky

This is a great topic for discussion. As a new collecter of scotch, the idea that drove me into some purchases is that when there is something of limited supply and of high quality it will only increase in value as time goes by and supply is depleted. Not to mention that for some of the wealthy, an ...

Highland Park 12....and I'm still trying to figure out why this is so highly rated. I finished with the Glenrothes 85, always smooth!

Re: NEW MEMBERS - INTRODUCTION AREA

I guess it's time to introduce myself. I think that I've only been a member for about three weeks but I visit the site every day. I am totally hooked! I've been sucked into the world of Scotch whisky by my father-in-law who came to the US from a little town outside of Glasgow at the age of 15. In th...

Re: The Glenrothes

that second opinion for the 94 doesn't suprise me. I have yet to find a bottle in any of my local liquor stores which to me speaks highly of it's deliciousness. Which of their other vintages would you most closely compare to the 94?

Re: Highland Park 12

Yeah that's what I'm hoping. I purchased the HP 12 after reading so many great reviews (none of which had mentions this smell and taste as being soooo pronounced) Anyway on second tasting I found it to be very similar. I'm not sure as to whether this will diminish with continued tastings or whether ...

Re: Balvenie 17yo Sherryoak?

Nice to see another Scotch fan from Tampa area. I'm always on the hunt for a good Scotch at a great price. I'm not sure if you are familiar with the Dunedin area but I would definatly recommend going to Leukens Liquors off of Patrica Ave. While the selection isn't the best, the prices can't be beat....

I'm probably going to be picking up the 74 reguardless but as I have a bottle in my collection I will take the opinions of the others who named it as their favorites and consume it with care.

Re: Highland Park 12

I sampled my first HP 12 last evening ans as I recall the Nose was full of candied fruit, and sweet licorice or cotton candy. it was then followed by a smell and taste that I can only describe as "doctors office" sterial alcohol and rubber gloves. It was not the most thrilling Scotch exper...

Re: Some bottles Available

it's a shame to have to part with such fine friends. I wish I could help out and take some of those fine spirits off your hands however I'm located alittle outside of the shipping zone. I would like to add that I'm also interested in the resale pricing on the Glenrothes line as I have a rather diver...

The Glenrothes

As some of you may know the Glenrothes series of vintage releases are sometimes hard to find after the stock is discontinued. If you are lucky enough to find one of these diamonds in the rough snatch it up. I'm currently on the hunt to collect and sample all these wonderful drams. I'm currently tryi...

Re: What is richer than Dalwhinnie 15yo?

How about Glenrothes ...? Just wanting to throw in my 2 cents. So far I have not found a glenrothes that I didn't like. Most follow the signiture characteristics of being smooth and creamy with some citrus, vanilla, and spices. I have on hand the 74, 84,85,91,92, select reserve and the 1979 single ...
