ardbeg 77. my favorite all time islay. i'm more inclined to drink a lagga anyday though, the 12cs is a great one as well, but just not as complex. arbedg 10 is 'meh' for me, no real movement one way or the other for me. laphroaig 15 my first love, lagavulin 16 is my current girl and 77 is sexy lady ...

the us price is f***ed, IHMO. pure price gouging by those thieves at Schieffelin & Somerset -- the price of this whisky (delicious btw) is in europe about 60% of the cost. i purchased in april a bottle in paris for EUR80. i recommend my US friends order this whisky from outside the USA and have ...

beef barley soup with laphroaig (with all apologies to my metricized freinds) this soup is pretty great for cold days and evenings. what it sacrifices in terms of aromatic complexity -- the usual carrots and celery mirepoix -- it makes up for in beefy whisky flavor. you could cut the cooking time do...

i've always held the suspicion that jim, who also makes a coin as a blender and consultant, brings a lot of undisclosed baggage in his overhead bin when he rates a whisky, specifically when it comes to rating blends. that said, he's always entertaining in his descriptions and he's harder to 'calibra...

gin and tonic. my favorite gin is a hard to find pot distilled version made by anchor distilling called junipero. it's fantastic on it's own, which in my mind all good blending spirits should be.

bamber, you are a true conniseur. one rye i coudn't give a damn about was wild turkey rye. what a sprity fonky mess -- what a dissapointment, and also a reaffirmation. i recall a conversation with a liquor propietor in nashville about all of austin franklin's products in difference with a certain bo...

i like that you can do a differential diagnosis :) of a favorite malt with an indy -- what makes it tick? what's going on here? i just opened a bottle of sig 15yo laphroaig sherry that's just plain weird -- sweet and rubbery! i love laphroaig and was intruiged by the bottle and presentation and will...

kill 6 birds with one stone: classic malts 6-pack. tell your benificiary to work their way down -- glenkitchie, dahlwinnie, cragganmore, oban, talisker then finally lagavulin. preferrably on consecutive sittings, rather than all 6 at once. i've avoided public tastings because of this regrettable but...

2 things for a night of overindulgence:
22 oz. cherry slurpee from 7-11.
theraflu shooter: 1 packet of theraflu mixed into a 1.5 oz of boiling water. stir and quaff in a single shot.

after those two i'm ready to rock.

booker's -- i'll have to give it another shot. i found that eagle rare 17, elijah craig 12 and stagg kicked its a**. but i can respect that you like it. my favorite 'merican whiskey right now is a rye: winkle family reserve 13yo. i'm getting a bottle of sazerac soon so it will be nice to compare the...

<long time listener, first time caller!> penfolds 2002 thomas hyland shiraz. jammy! lately though the 15yo db Longmorn has been hoisted in the evening, although i just got a notice from my liquor store (yeah they call me when they get something good in!) that 10 cases of Lagavulin 16 just came in!
