Re: Need Help Finding a Glenfiddich Snow Phoenix Please

I wish to confirm it is in Dan Murphys across Victoria (Australia).
If we Aussies received it at such bulk levels then surely it will be available everywhere else.

(i heard once that even antarctica get shipments before Australia.)

"bits" floating in a bottle

I have owned a couple bottles of whisky, when upon opening and pouring into a glass there are bits evident in the glass and the bottle. They did settle if left undisturbed. Does anyone know what causes this? I do remember both bottles didint taste like great whisky, although i hadn't had either befo...

Re: Best Single Malts to show Effect of Wood

When i was reading this thread i had an idea - Lark Distillery in Tasmania, Australia (they sell online from their website) offer the chance to buy un-aged spirit. The exact spirit they use to make their whiskies which can also be purchased. When i tasted this spirit next to whisky from the same dis...

Re: Hate whisky - not anymore

if your prefer sweetness, try a decent bourbon. for a cheapish decent one start with buffalo trace, or something a bit more decent try a rip van winkle 10year old 107 proof.

Re: Great whisky bars of the world 2010 - Gold

Baranows Whisky and Cigar Lounge in Hawthorn, Victoria, Australia - voted best whisky bar in Austalia. Heaps, and heaps of whiskies to try, some very hard to come by.

Great place.

Re: Show Off Your Inventory

Wow, some amazing jaw dropping lists! I went to a whisky dinner once where the presenter was introduced as a brand ambasador and whisky collector. I asked how many bottles in his collection. When i heard the answer i was truly speechless. 4000 bottles!! Anyway, a couple of posts have said to point o...

Glenrothes Single Malt vintage choice?

I was thinking about getting one or two different vintages of these. Does anyone know which years are the better ones to get?
I could choose from: 1985, 1988, 1991, 1994, or 1998.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Gordon & MacPhail Glenrothes 30yr old

I'm not sure how new you mean, i bought a bottle of G + M Glenrothes 30 yr about 2 years ago.
If its the same it is great value for an oldish whisky, but be prepared to tasted nothing much but oak.

Re: Australian Whisky

Its pretty unreasonable to complain about the price of Australian whiskies, firstly as pointed out earlier Smiths Anguston 8yr or even 12yr are under $100 and good value. Secondly, where can you find quality Small Batch Single cask scotch whisky for under $150? Single cask whisky can be very excitin...

Re: Very odd (bad?) Lagavulin 16

I have heard recently somewhere in the industry (cant recall where tho) that Laga was made a big change to its 16 yo bottling (i have a funny feeling that they lowered the peating levels) Also any Laphroaig fans beware, they have lowered the bottling abv for the standard from 43% to 40%. Its definat...
