The glasses have a good feeling. The glass is not to thick nor to thin, nicely shaped and a heavy bottom. Funny to have my first Whisky glasses being Dutch ones ;)

Millstone 6.5yo

As shown here I got a Millstone giftset as an early birthday present. Today I opened the bottle for my very first tasting report :) Nose Sweetness, vanilla, coconut, could not smell any peat Taste Very thin fluid, sweet taste, not really intense. I tried an Ardbeg and Teacher's as well but they have...

Millstone 6.5yo (Dutch) giftset

Yesterday I received an early birthday present (mine is in February) from my girlfriend's parents. I received a Dutch single malt gift set. Quite funny since it is a Dutch one instead of Scotch. I am really curious to explore what kind of whisky my country does produce ;) Pics: http://farm4.static.f...

Re: Teacher's

The "wood taste" might actually be the smokey/"peaty" notes from the peated Ardmore malt that goes into Teacher's. Try an Islay malt or another peated blend, such as Black Bottle or Black Grouse, and see if you pick up the same flavours. Today I had the Ardbeg 10 Years Old and t...

Re: What did you drink last night?

Tonight I tasted a Ardbeg 10 Years Old from a friend of mine. I liked the as I called it "wood" taste. Later it turned out to be the peat in the whisky. He suggested me this Ardbeg had a lot more stronger peat taste. I was really surprised by the intense peat taste. One hour later I still ...

Re: Teacher's

Yesterday I had my very first Teacher's (it is the third brand I tried since I am very new into whisky ;)). I was surprised with the "wood taste". You read a lot about it but now I experienced it myself. Though I can only compare it to two other whiskies (Glenhood and The famous grouse) th...

In what way taste older whiskeys different?

I'm really a noob in the world of whiskey, but I was wondering. I saw a whiskey cafe website the following menu: ⋅ Glenfiddich 12 year ⋅ Glenfiddich 15 year ⋅ Glenfiddich 18 year I figured out the years mean the time they spend in a barrel before being bottled. Now my b...

Re: NEW MEMBERS - INTRODUCTION AREA

Well here we go: I'm really, really new into whiskey. A friend of mine is a really Whiskey enthusiast. He introduced me to a small whiskeycafe in Amsterdam and told me some things about Whiskey. I was quite interested to the material. I had my first dram of The Famous Grouse last week. It took two s...
