Re: Centerparcs

Hi. I visited Centerparcs in the Lake District a couple of years back, so memory is a bit hazy. I think they had standard bottles that you would see in a small supermarket, such as Glenmo, Glenfiddich, Laphroaig and the like. They definately had the usual blends as well. However, and this point goes...

Re: Feis Ile 2009

I'm glad your Dad got see the Sox win, i remember seeing the pictures, truly remarkable to see all those people line the streets of Boston. I will be taking a car, mostly because it gives us the freedom to travel to teh different distilleries, but we hope to be based in Bowmore, as that seems to be ...

(I'm curious about your affinity for Big Papi--are you a transplanted New Englander?) My brother in law married a girl from Worcester, Mass. in 2000 so followed the Pats and the Red Sox since then, got lucky i suppose as i only had to wait 4 years to see them win the World Series instead of a lifet...

Re: Collecting whisky

To be honest the distilliries have to take their share of the blame too. Releasing youngish malts at fancy prices just because they are limited rather than just having a general release is going to cause a comotion. I've never heard of a distillery selling 2400 bottles in 2 hours before but i suppos...

Re: Collecting whisky

But as for the vultures that buy, only to resell for a profit, thus denying drinkers and collectors - go back to the slimy hole you crawled out of. Surely if a "vulture" as you call them is selling a bottle at an inflated price then it is up to the buyer to walk away and anyways they aren...

What is the "Sturdiest" Whisky bottle?

I was in House of Fraser looking at their small selection of Single Malts today as they had 15% off. I picked up a Highland Park 12 to see the price. The price sticker was on the bottom of the packaging so i turned it upside down to check and the bottle fell out! I made a valiant effort to catch it ...

Re: Bruichladdich Links

Thanks, thats what i thought. However, would all 18000 bottles not just be filled at the same time or would they do so many at a time and then wait til they had sold out and then send the next lot out?

Thanks again, it just seemed weird.

Bruichladdich Links

Hi all, i have just bought a bottle of Bruichladdich Links, Augusta 16th Hole, the second bottle in the series and noticed that the bottling date was May 2005. I also have a Royal Troon bottle, which is 3rd in the series and its bottling date is late 2004. Is this possible? The bottle number of the ...

Re: empty ARDBEG bottles wanted!!!

Good luck with that, but many people are hesitant about giving out empty bottles. They get filled with rubbish whisky and end up on Ebay. My thoughts exactly Matt ! I keep my Special Empties anyway (like the Allied 10yo) and Mel is determined to make a lamp out of the Mor when i eventually finish i...

The wife isnt too pleased about the unopened bottles though! Well for goodness sake don't upset your wife. Rip the top off the bottles and start drinking them. :) Its the lesser of two evils, i can guarentee she would be more upset if I opened them all! Its just the space, they have been evicted fr...
