Re: Supermarket Deals

Gone a bit quiet here lately. Many of the usual suspects are on various offers around the supermarkets, but worthy of mention is the bottle of Dalwhinnie 15 I picked up today at Sainsburys for £20.

Re: Why do you consider beers superior to whisky?

When I think of beer, I think of some of the finest English Real Ales in a good pub, and they take some beating. Beers in many other places dont compare I'm sorry to say, therefore single malts wipe the floor with most. A good real ale is a worthy opponent to a single malt, and luckily it doesn't ha...

Re: Supermarket Deals

Sainsbury's has 20% off all 'branded spirits', which seems to include most, if not all, the malt whiskies. Pretty annoyed to see this meant £6 off 15 yo Dalwinnie, a week after I bought a bottle at full price  I think I will be back for more, however. I noticed that yesterday. They had...

Re: Supermarket Deals

Morrisons have knocked £7 off a selection of their stock. I got a bottle of HP 12 for just over £21. They also have the Glenfiddich Rich Oak (which is very nice) for just under £24. Old Pulteney was around £17.

There was a couple more, but I cant remember which.

I would go for the Lagavulin 16, which can be bought at the top end of your price range. I also like the Lagavulin DE, which can cost a little more.

The Sainsburys deals are excellent. I managed to get the last bottle of Lagavulin off the shelves of my local, and couldn't resist a Glenfiddich 18 for just over £25. Exceptional value.

And shipping up to 12 bottles (of anything) for £7.

Bargain! Which is unusual for SMD

Is this the same one I got at Waitrose for £23.99 the other day? If so, it is an even better bargain.

Had a look at Waitrose today, and was spoilt for choice. They have some excellent offers on. I ended up with the Aberlour 16yo for £23.99. They also had the A'Bunadh, batches 27 and 28 which I might have to go back for soon.

I have a bottle of the Old Malt Cask Port Ellen too, and agree it is stunning.

I've also got an OMC Glen Grant 18 yo, and that too is superb.

I must try some more of these bottlings in the future if the standard is as good as those two.
