Laphroaig 30YO ?'s

In what year did Laphroaig stop bottling the 30 year old? As well if any one knows the year it was first offered that would be great. As a matter of fact if you know anything of interest concerning this bottling I would like to know...ranging from production numbers to what your personal opinions of...

Re: Kilchoman 2010 Summer

What do you guys think of the Kilchoman? It sounds interesting to me but I see it is very very young. How is the peat and smoke as compared to other Islay malts? My second son was born in the summer of 2010 and I was planning to buy a bottle for him to hold for awhile and drink with him when he come...

Do any of you have an opinion on the quality of the Littlemill 8? What year did they stop making it to go with the 12yo bottlings? What should I expect to pay for a 8? My wife really loves rosebank and I was not sure if she would like this one as well...thanks in advance for your responces...

Re: The Glenlivets and Nadurra taste alikes

I recommend the Ardmore quarter cask. It is not as high of an ABV but it is a good value I think and it does much to tickle the pallet. I think it is also a good introduction to peated whisky as it is not as strong in peat as the Islay Malts but the peat is there.

Re: £50,000 for this lot! This guy needs to be Comedy stage

This reminds me of a recent ebay auction in the US where the seller wanted to sell a collection of 12 Laphroaig 40 yo for $30,000 USD. I thought it would make much more sense to sell them off individually. What I found odd about the US listing is that it encouraged direct email with the seller (outs...

Thanks Ganga for the recommendation on the Talisker  ...I found a bottle of the Talisker 30yo bottled in 2007...only paid 200 for it too so I am happy and now have something to properly celebrate my 30th birthday. This is rather fitting as Talisker was the first fine single malt I tried wh...

Need advice: What to buy???

So I have need for advice on two purchases. First I desperately need to purchase a bottle of 30 year old single malt to enjoy before the end of this month. I am typically a southern Islay drinker but sadly I have not been able to find any 30 yo Laphroaig. I want a bottle that is specifically 30 to e...

Re: Novice seeking whisky advise $30-$50 USD range

My favorite whiskies are from southern Islay and you can (as already mentioned) get several in this range. My favorite daily dram is the Laphroaig 10 and my local shop sells it for $39 You can get the Laphroaig 15 for around $59 which is a little over your range but well worth it. I like both of the...

Lol, hay babe no need to worry, I love my gift. I see you found the forum. I'm just glad that you did not check the collectors corner because I started a thread in there concerning the PC6, and I was about to buy it. You did very well in your choice! :D

Port Charlotte PC6?

So I was in one of my local specialty shops today and found one bottle of PC6 sitting on the shelf. The price tag is $140. I was wondering if this is a fair price and wither or not I should jump on it. As well if anyone has information concerning the bottling including number produced I would very m...

Re: Tomatin 25 yo

I have not had the 25yo...yet I normally stay in the Islands as well. However I have had the 30yo and found it a lovely dram. It seems to me that Tomatin is a very good dram for the price. If you are paying 180 for the 25 though you should go up just a bit because I think I paid around 200 for the 3...

Ardbeg 17yo or 1977... which to buy?

I am currently debating on a purchase to add a bottle to my collection. The two contenders, as the title suggest, are Ardbeg 17yo and Ardbeg 1977. They are both reasonably priced with the '77 being about $100 dollars more. I am wondering what you guys think about these two expressions of Ardbeg. Whi...
