okay.. the BC inventory is officially empty. All bottles are sold. Jim apologized for error on the 2009 whisky bible. All Arbeg Uigeadail are at 54.2%. Really? There were 6 available at my local BCL last night, and around 60 still available across the province, IIRC. I'd be surprised if BCLs sold o...

Hi Peatlover, There is NO Talisker 18 in BC. THey haven't pulled it off the web site, so it makes me think they may have just run out (....now ...at christmas...what were they thinking?!), Anyone know? Peatlover I think you may be right on this. I can remember the same thing happening last January. ...

Re: How many CLOSED bottles do you have?

When I first started drinking whisky I was eager to try every bottle I purchased. I quickly amassed a large amount of bottles that were half full, which eventually started to loose their nose and robustness. I ended up pouring a few bottles down the sink after 2 years because they tasted too dull :h...

Like Lawrence I went a bit overboard at the BCL Scotch Special Release:

Ardbeg Blasda
Ardbeg Airigh Nam Beist x 2
Redbreast 15 x 2

Not much, i know, but I went in thinking I'd get one of each.

Welcome to the forums, and thanks for posting the prices! I agree that these are fairly good prices for the BC LDB. I can't wait to pick a few of these up in November :iwbrnt: .

cheers!

Re: BCL Premium Whisky Release

Are any of these going to be continued as available products on the shelf, or are they limited time offerings over the holiday season? If last year's release is any indication then not many will be actively stocked in BCLs past the holiday season. However, the BCL still has a majority of last years...

I'm very surprised to see a few on this list, including the Blasda and also Glenmo Astar. This is good news that they are coming into North America. I was surprised to see those too! I can't wait to pick up the Blasda and Beistie. Also the Brora and PE that Ganga mentioned look really nice too (but...

Re: BCL Premium Whisky Release

Lots of interesting and expensive stuff on the list. If you like Irish, try the Redbreast 15. If you're willing to go a little higher in price range the Bruichladdich 1970 is awesome. Brora 25 should be the 7th annual release. PE 29 I think is the 8th annual release. Thanks Ganga, I'll definitely h...

Re: FURIOUS AT THE LATEST LCBO PRICE INCREASES

THE LCBO is out of control. The LCBO is the liquor board of ontario, for those of you who didn't know. Today they increased their prices and did they ever. Last night Lagavulin 16 was still 99.95 a bottle. Today their website shows it as 125.00. I'm going to move to Calgary, this province sucks, an...

I'd tend to vote C as well, more bottles for the same amount of money. Unless of course the PE you're speaking of is the 2005 5th Annual Release??? I believe it is the 2005 5th Annual Release. It's bottled by Diageo and is 25yrs old. Would you recommend it? It's rather expensive, but then again I h...

I think this is because the Laga 12YO in the BCLDB is from the 2005 Diageo Special Release, so the price hasn't risen yet (there are still over 100 of these bottles kicking around in BC). When the BCLDB buys the next batch of 12YO Lagavulin, I'm pretty sure that the prices will be significantly hig...

BCL Rants and Raves

I just went to my local liquor store to pick up a bottle of Lagavulin 16. It used to cost me $99 CDN for a bottle, but it turns out they raised the price to $125 over the weekend  . I have yet to dislike a bottle of scotch, however I've not been impressed with the Old Pulteney 12 and Balvenie Doublewood. Also, I would probably enjoy my bottle of Talisker 10yr a lot more if I didn't have a bottle of the 18yr.

Re: What did you drink last night?

I went out to a neighbourhood pub last night to meet some friends. I noticed a few scotches practically hidden at the back of the bar: Oban 14, Laphroaig QC, Glenmorangie 10, Talisker 10 & 18, and Lagavulin 16 to name a few. I ordered a dram of the Lagavulin. It was definitely spoiled. Muted nos...
