Re: How did YOU get started drinking whisky?

When I was out with my cousin, he used to drink Teachers chasers. I tried it and it put me right off. At the time, I thought all whiskey tasted the same! Re: The Famous Grouse

As someone who enjoys the blended FG, I took the opportunity a few months back to buy a bottle of FG Vintage single malt 1992 and was quite excited about getting stuck into it. While it's ok, I must admit - in my opinion - it's not a match for the blend!

Re: American Rye Whisk(e)y

I can't really vote as I've only had Wild Turkey. Having said that, if any of the others can beat 101, they must be amazing! And if they do, I want some now!

Re: Your Top 5

As a relatively new whisk(e)y appreciater, I know my favourites are likely to change as there are so many I haven't tried yet. However, so far, these are my favourites

Midleton VR
Redbreast 12
Wild Turkey 101
Bushmills Distillery Reserve 12
Glenlivet Nadurra

Re: Midleton Very Rare 40%

I fully agree with memepool. Midleton VR is amazing. I'll admit to never having bought a bottle due to the price, but on special occasions I've purchased a dram here and there and I've never tasted a whisky/whiskey quite so exquisite. Some day I will buy a bottle (when I can find an occasion special...

Re: Jameson 12 or Bushmills Black Bush

My tastes have changed since I first became a whiskey appreciater. I initially preferred the Bushmills 1608 to Black Bush, but now I prefer the Black Bush. However, having said that, in terms of quality, I'd take the Jameson 12 over the Black Bush. BB is a good regular tipple though. Those two aside...
