Re: What is your most recent (whisky) purchase.

Well... today would qualify as my 1st higher end purchase, I guess... for my budget. The Macallan Fine Oak 21. Usually not available much around Eastern Canada... I figured it would add a nice touch to my current Mac stock. Price was right: Was Reg. price 262.00$ Can - got it off the manager at the ...

Re: Do you ever go through a phase where you drink only one SMS?

Well... Yes and NO.... I can go a few weeks with the same bottle... but then I hit that one afternoon where I'll sample around some of my open bottles. If you were to ask me if I stick to the same region malts....then that would be a YES. I'll stick around the Islay SMS for a bunch of months.....

Re: New Brunswick Spirits Show Nov 21 -21

Well, Novice Scotch Fan, you already know that I will be there. Just to explain my attendance a little bit... I'll be working at one of the tables with the company that represents Highland Park, MacAllan, Famous Grouse and others. At last years show, I worked the Mac table and had the 10,12,15,18 an...

Re: Diageo pulling whisky from Canada

Well,... there are few threads open on this discussion already.

However, the rumors are true. Oban, Talisker, Lagavulin to name a few. Even their competitors are aware of the pullout. CBC news even had a story about it.

Re: Too bad for New Brunswick, Canada Scotch Drinkers

Well...being from New Brunswick, I'll miss the OBAN... but i've still got a full bottle. I'll pick up some Lagavulin and Talisker before it's gone.

Sources tell me, however, that we will soon see Tomintoul in our stores very soon.

Re: Diageo To Discontinue/Allocate Brands in Canada

I have heard the same news from one of their competitors.

So, I plan on getting a few Taliskers, another Oban, a GlenKinchie and probably a Lagavulin.

It's too bad, the prices in NB are just so good. Oban 14 at 80$.

Re: What are you drinking now?

Well...after a morning of yard work.. it's now time for some NFL (American Football) so I think I'll start with a wee bit of Strathisla 12. Once I'm comfortably set in the lazy boy... i'll probably move to a MacAllan 15. Why not!

Re: Scotch in Canada gaining popularity @ the expense of Bourbon

Being from Canada, I would say you are probably right in saying that scotch has been gaining popularity. I must, however, offer this: I find in my travels that we (Canadians) are getting some better then usual Bourbons made available. Is it just a fade... maybee... but the last few years have seen m...

Re: Are you a Whisky Drinker or a Whisky Collector?

I'm both - more so a drinker than a collector. I've seen my collection increase to 20 bottles in the last few months. Most are opened or going to be soon. I've no doubt that I'll soon have 30 or so bottles to choose from and enjoy sharing a dram with friends who are just coming into the world of Whi...
