Bottle year of Talisker 25?

I purchased a bottle of Talisker 25 at my local liquor store. I notice online some liquor stores sell it with a bottle year listed, but I can find no information on mine about what year it was bottled. Any ideas?

Something Similar to Macallan 18

The last time I bought a bottle of Macallan 18 it was about half the price that it's currently going for. Does anyone have suggestions for similar tasting whiskys that are in the $100 range or less?

Let's not be ridiculous here. A bag of ice from the gas station and some plastic cups should be enough for a complete party.

Blending Blends?

So I have opened bottles of Johnnie Walker Black, Gold, and Blue. There's not a whole lot in any one of them. Would it be a terrible idea to just dump them all in one bottle? I mean, they're already blends anyways.

Re: anybody know where to sell whisky?

I'm not sure if you're suppose to or not, but I've sold some on craigslist before. It sold same day so I'm not sure if the moderators would remove the ad if they had the chance to catch it.

Mount an oversized bottle holder on the handle bars that will hold a scotch glass.

I'm being a hypocrite though... I've never tried cycling with scotch...only beer.

Re: Best Blended Whisky

JW Gold is the only blend I can think of that I like and that I'll buy. I've had the Blue before and really didn't think it was all that good - and certainly not for what they charge for it. The Gold label uses Clynelish as its base malt and I think Clynelish is a really good malt so I'm sure that f...

But if I'm at someone's house and they offer me something nice, I won't request ice. No sense in unduly stirring up bad blood... :D

Re: Offering a single malt to guest....

I have no problems offering good whiskey on ice to a guest so long as they appreciate it. And who am I to say how they should appreciate it? For me personally, when I try a new scotch, I'll try it neat so I can get a complete feel for the drink. But often times, I prefer it on ice, depending on my m...

Re: Cooking with Ardbeg

Well, I said I'd follow up about the Clynelish. Honestly, I could hardly tell it was there. I don't really know that it made a difference. But the Ardbeg certainly did so I'm going to keep it in mind for future cooking endeavors. I'm thinking Talisker may make for an interesting cooking experiment a...

Anyone have opinions on the Auchentoshan Select? It has no age statement on it, but I don't suppose that really matters. Kind of strange though.

Cooking with Ardbeg

So I just made some pasta for watching a movie and, on a whim, I decided to put a 1/4 shot of Ardbeg in the pasta. It really added to the aroma and flavor significantly. I have to say I was really impressed. Once my curiosity was sparked, I decided to do the same thing with Clynelish. That pasta is ...

Re: Independent bottlings

I was recently faced with the choice of buying a Macallan 18 OB or a 27yr Macallan that was bottled by the Old Malt Cask brand. I went with the former because the IB idea I wasn't too sure about. Plus I know the 18 was finished in Sherry casks and I think the 27 was just dumped right in the bottle. ...

Re: How many open bottles do you normally have?

As of yesterday, I had 4 open bottles: Dalwhinnie distiller's ed. 1990 Ardbeg 10yr Clynelish 14yr Glen Grant Ind. Bottling from a cask bought by my local bottle shop I finished the Dalwhinnie yesterday tho so I'm down to 3 open. Idealy, I'd just like to have one open at a time. We have some good sco...
