Sipping on Glenfarclas 12 as I type. I immediately noticed dates and raisins on the nose, maybe heather as well. What followed was an oaky, oily taste, not lasting all that long. Its been a while since I have had Glenfarclas. I would say it is "OK". I just am not a fan of the dates and rai...

Nothing last night, but Sunday night, I had the Highland Park 18. Simply one of the best malts for the money.

I just received a 1/2 case of Ardbeg 17, which I was having a very difficult time finding recently. I am sure there will be many Ardbeg 17 nights in the near future.

Hosted a tasting event..

Question on a couple of Ardbegs.

Has anyone had the new Ardbeg "Uigeadail"? Also, if anyone has tried the "Lord of the Isles" I'd be interested in hearing about that also.

Ardbeg is among my Scotch favorites, particularly the 17yr and the 1977. How do these compare??

Thanks,

Jim

You might give a try to Caol Ila, and in particular, the 18 yr. After enjoying single malts from Bowmore, Ardbeg, Lagavulin, etc., I never gave much thought to Caol Ila, but it has clearly become one of my favs. It's also hard to go wrong with Springbank. If you can get your hands on the 21 yr, jump...

I just purchased the laphroaig 30 about a month ago. Trying to save it for a special occasion, although something special better happen soon!! I paid $199 US dollars for it, although I think the store may have made a mistake.

I hope you are right in how good it is. I am looking forward to it.
