Re: Balvenie Founder's Reserve 10 Year Old

Still on plenty of shelves here. I have one opened and one closed so I'm not in a rush to buy another... I don't see it appreciating much in value - but who knows. I'm of like mind with Sir Dino here... drink up!

Re: A Brand New Balvenie Release?

Also, getting back on track about new bottles I'm fairly certain that a 14 yo Caribbean Rum Cask will be out later this year in the US. I'm busting a gut about the new 17 but I've promised not to tell otherwise I may not get anymore tidbits of info in the future. News of the new 17 is leaking... ve...

Oh - but my bottle is also a European release... not a US release... maybe there is a difference in the packaging between the 70cl and 750ml versions?

Re: Balvenie 25 wanted

Nick, this might be a long shot but I know where one bottle is @ $243US if you know someone in the Dallas, Texas area. PM me for details. It's a '78-'03, 750ml with wooden box. It was there when I got mine a while ago and it still shows to be in their inventory. I don't mean to offer his services a...

Re: Show Off Your Inventory

The Singularity Cask 66 is a special bottle put out by Julio's liquors for members of their Loch and K(e)y club. It is the first time a store was allowed to pick their own cask and have it bottled by Balvenie, hence the singularity. Essentially, it is a Balvenie 15 that they selected. I don't remem...

A Brand New Balvenie Release?

Anyone have a pulse on the new Balvenie whiskies coming out this year? I understand there will be the next 17yo (not yet announced), Signature Batch 3 should be hitting the shelves now, new Vintage, etc... but there is also something brand new coming out. An Ambassador said it may be going to Taiwan...

No idea as to value, but my guess would be that it would go for more to a die-hard giants fan than to a whisky fan.

Just my $0.02 (which could be worth far less).

I haven't had the 18 (yet) but I love the added wood in The QC. I even made Mrs. Chef "host" a blind tasting for me with 10, 15 and QC. The QC came out on top, but not by much. Caol Ila 12yo - Sweet wood, smoke, vanilla, seaweed, citrus fruits, smoked kippers and faint banana on the nose....

Re: Favorite Single Malt under $100

The HP18 is a great whisky, and I would pick that over the Macallan 18 any day. Ganga's comment about the specialty bottles at Binny's is spot on - HP actually does a number of the single casks for retailers and they are great, but there are multiple distilleries (as Ganga mentioned). I would also s...

Balvenie 17 New Oak, thanks to orangedog. Tasted blind I would have definitely thought this was a bourbon. No complaints here. I've always enjoyed the palate and range of flavors, and haven't really experienced any "hot" drams. So maybe just your bottle? Which is possible - if the nose was inviting it is plausible that it could be a whale of a nose but a minnow of flavor.
