Re: Port Ellen Feis Ile

Very well said indeed. I would only add that attitude is important. Myself and my friend encountered one or two "nasty" moments of people being total idiots, driving around in their hired luxury motor buying (at one point) over 15 bottles of one of the releases and barging past us to get t...

Re: Port Ellen Feis Ile

I have a friend who is an art dealer. They regularly visit auction houses and buy back their own art at inflated prices to keep the market high. I could stick my bottle of Port Ellen on eBay for a Buy It Now price of, say, £1500 and then get my brother / mate / cousin etc to "buy it" a few...

Re: If nobody mentions it .. maybe know nobody will know

Springbank 1997, Oddbins Exclusive Single Cask, 475 bottles. Cask Number 475. Own Bottling, too. Not an indie bottling of someone elses cask. 59.4%. £48. So, £50 for a 10 YO is pretty steep, but only £8 more expensive than the Ardbeg Ren. which is, er, "limited" too. (Note: You know someth...

My guess is that it won't tast too much different to Serendipity Nothing like Serendipity..... Er, yeah. Why on earth would it be like Serendipity? Well, the official tasting notes I have seen for Blasda have a lot of similar reference points to the tasting notes I made of Serendpity, so I thought ...

At the risk of giving too much away, the new MOR will NOT be numbered. I believe the UK allocation will be less than 300 units... (On your marks! Get set! Go!) I don't know why all the chat so far on this forum has been about MOR version 1.0 vs MOR version 2.0. They are DIFFERENT whiskies. Same big ...

Yes, the PC7 is fantastic. Tasting notes here: http://caskstrength.blogspot.com/2008/05/feis-ile-day-three-bladdy-good-time.html I'm very much looking forward to this release. It reminded me of the Ardbeg Almost There. A real cracker and much, much better than the PC6 / 5. I wish I was in Islay now....

We've just reviewed a 16 YO Rosebank at: http://www.caskstrength.net Rosebank is an awesome whisky, but beware older (i.e.- more mature) bottlings as it doesn't take too well to too much wood. It is a delicate and floral whisky with beautiful tones. Too old and it can be over powered by the wood. RM...

When I was over at Feis Ile, I did the Managers Tasting on the Ardbeg Open Day. One of the whiskies tried was the Very Young.
