Re: Macallan 50 year old whisky in Lalique decanter

Happily, I sold my three bottles. The capital gains tax was miserable but still an amazing investment.

Re: Dream Investment Buys?

Over the past few years, I have sold some investment bottles. Recently, I was lucky enough to have sold the last of my 3 bottles of Macallan 50 y in Lalique in the Pillar Series. If I never sell another bottle, the investments, for me, have been well worth it.

In May this year, Macalllan released the fifth bottle in the Six Pillars collaboration between Macallan and Lalique. This 62 year old expression of Macallan is encompassed within "The Spiritual Home" Lalique crystal decanter. Apparently, the price is $25,000USD. I continue to follow the pr...

Re: Macallan 50 year old whisky in Lalique decanter

WOW! Have you seen what the Macallan 50 y in Lalique is going for now at TWE? 17,500 GBP (incl VAT) about $27,700 CDN 14,583.33 GBP (ex VAT) about 23,100 CDN Of the bottles in the Lalique lineup to date, I still think the first one is the most beautiful. Tastes great, too. Sorry not to be able to co...

I am a big fan of Bowmore, especially their products from 1964. I think it is wonderful that some of these extremely rare bottles are auctioned for charity. I know that Michael Urquhart at G&M donates some of their bottles to charity, too. Charity...a very honourable choice for an equally honour...

I have to say that I am a little embarrassed not to have tasted many Canadian Whiskies to date, being that I am Canadian. I have tasted two whiskies both from Alberta Distillers Limited (Calgary). I tried their Alberta Premium 100% Rye Whisky 25 year old when it came out. Jim Murray was in Calgary f...

Hi Fred,

As far as I can see, there is nothing other than the bottle number. Etched on the bottom of each bottle is the number out of 470. I have bottles 85, 343 and 345.

Re: Macallan 50 year old whisky in Lalique decanter

I usually keep an eye on Whiskyfinder.com. They provide prices offered by shops, when the product is available. Past opinions on this site suggest that one should expect to get less in a private sale. As to how to sell, I agree with you that ebay is not the way to go. Contact whisky clubs and tastin...

For my part, I never buy for collecting what I am not expecting to enjoy if opened. So far, very few disappointments. If you are not going to sell them (or give them away to the very welcoming and thankful hands of forum members) and you get tired of looking at them for their aesthetic value, then o...

Re: Macallan 50 year old whisky in Lalique decanter

Thanks for responding to the query. I think your price is more than reasonable. A shop owner has one for sale for 17,000 GBP. Apparently, he wants to keep the bottle so that is why the price is so high. If he wants to keep it, then why put it up for sale? He wanted to buy another one but was not wil...

Macallan 50 y in Lalique

Hi, I am looking for anyone interested in purchasing a bottle of Macallan 50 year in Lalique Crystal. This amazing item was released in February, 2006. It is the first in a series of 6 bottles. There were only 470 bottles available. Twenty were alloted to the UK, 100 to the USA and , I think, about ...
