I nominate Tomatin, not one Id had much contact with until Whisky An' All That last month.Very enjoyable, especially the older versions.

Re: What's your latest bottle opened?

Glen Garioch Founders Reserve ,an underrated Distillery in my opinion. This is what I call an 'old fashioned' whisky, all warm fruits and spices and a long finish.

Go for a Highland/Speyside, gives you most scope, then you can start another poll asking which one

Re: The Glenlivets and Nadurra taste alikes

How about Glenmorangie Astar,(dont mind if I do ,Bishop!i'll try one now)
lots of fruit;apricots, clementines, melon, barley sugar ,vanilla, hint of cinnamon, bitter almonds and a peppery finish.
Not as sweet as Nadurra, not as oaky as Abunadh especially good on second tasting.

Re: The Glenfiddich Tasting - 21st June - 7pm

18yo
Palate, spicy,cinnamon,alittle drying wood/astringency
Finish, medium but nothing to write home about, drying at the end,and a little orangedark chocolate, but the noe promised so much more.
Comment, Disappointing, there was so much promise from the nose but it was 'Thin' on the mouthfeel.

Re-tasting the Special Reserve with a dash of water; it brings out the wood, and increases the spicy/pecil sharpenings element, in fact it improves the whole experience, how odd, with the strength being 40% I wouldnt have expected that.
