whisky tasting club on Sunday (I'm a day late here but had to download UFC 84 :P ) anyway.... Mike Nicolson was the guest, 37 years experience distilling and blending.... Mike was a good fellow, highly recommend him, he lives on Van. Island now. Good humour and great knowledge.... made for a good ta...

instead of towing the line and putting some super hard to get/expensive malt down, I will go with Talisker 18.... tasty, readily available and sure to 'hit the spot'.

started with Grants Ale Cask then on to Teacher's Highland Cream
.... Teacher's is bringing 'new' notes this time around.... seems more smokey than last tasting... good for price regardless =)

went to a training session today in Vancouver, 31 whiskies in 8 hrs with Jim Murray, was fun, tried quite a few before though there were some I had not tried.... all in all a good day

if JM is too artsy for ya, I have FG on my link below.... I find FG blend very nice, sweeter than the 12 vatted and the 12 is more malty.... however, both are good in a pinch. FG is a bottle to have on ones' shelf.... best selling blend in Scotland if I recall.

started with Gordons' Highlander...... very nice on the rocks, then switched to Hiram Walker Special Old.... (this Canadian is better on the rocks than neat IMO)

started with Wild Turkey 8 yr. old 101 proof....(great whisky for the price!) finished with Canadian Club Reserve 10 yr. old..... :)

bought a bottle of Gordon Highlanders.... seems like there will be no more in BC.... too bad, it's a decent everyday type scotch.... *shakes fist at distillery*

Canadian Club Reserve 10 yr. old ..... not bad for $23 :)
then on to Buffalo Trace followed by Wild Turkey 8 yr. old 101.... now that's a nice whiskey!

thinking of buying a couple of rums.... Ron Matusalem 15 and Pusser's..... not whisky but I may bite the bullet and go for 'em .... if anyone is a rum drinker, feel free to pass opins via messages :thumbsup:

difficult being in Canada.... unless I bug Richard Parker enough to bring one for me I think I'm out of luck :(
he's a real enthusiast and a good guy, so perhaps I will ask him. RB 12 is very nice.... really want to try the 15.

went to a whisky tasting, tried the following; Yamazaki 18, Jameson 12, Balvenie 12 Doublewood, Scapa 14, Bushmill's 16 yr., Douglas Laing Lochnagar 11 yr. old, Connemara NAS, Grenore 8 yr. old (Irish single grain), Glenmorangie Nectar D'or, Smokehead. have tried some of these whiskies before though...
