Re: whisky prices

you won't get anything like the retail prices on TWE unless you open your own shop, you'd need to sell it at auction. look at whiskybase.com. at auction you'll achieve around 50-70% of the price on whiskybase after fees. Avoid auctions where your competing against the same bottle from another seller.

Re: In Search of Whisky Collectors

go along to McTears auctioneers on a day prior to an auction, you'll see all the bottles on display and meet collectors to chat to.

Re: Newbie Looking for Smoke

the Islay whiskies are known for smokiness, except Bunnahabhain. Talisker too. I'm a fan of peat and smoke. Try Douglas Laing's 'Big Peat', it's a blend of Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore and Port Ellen, it's not as full on as it sounds, a nice dram at a reasonable price.

Re: What is your most recent (whisky) purchase.

Caol Ila 18
Balvenie Doublewood 17
Ileach Cask Strength
Laddie Ten
Bowmore Handfilled, 16 years in a sherry butt
and..... the sherried Laphroaig 'Triplewood'

The Ileach Cask Strength is a very heavy dram, I'd imagine this will be too pungent for a lot of folk

Re: Where to sell?

I sold a few bottles with whisky auctions edinburgh, happy with the prices reached. They offer free UK courier collection, it was TNT who picked up, made it a bit cheaper overall, seller fees were 10% plus £3 listing fee.

Re: best whisky auction site in united kingdom

I think it's subjective, I've used a few. I last used whisky auctions edinburgh, free collection, it's convenient not having to travel. I supposed it depends where you live.

Re: Octomore 6.2

Hi, you don't say where you are in the world. This whisky is on sale at the Bruichladdich distillery for £115. Alternatively why not call the people who run the airport shops in the UK it's www.worlddutyfree.com.

Regards,

Brian
