Whisky Bars of the World Booklet

Hi Guys,

I've just flicked through the booklet with issue 113, the are quite a few bars that no longer exist, have closed down or don't have a single bottle of malt behind the bar. Do you know when this was last updated? One bar I know is in it closed down 5 years ago.

Cheers,

What a lucky find, in a shop or auction it would be way more than I expect you paid.

Diageo man Colin Dunn might shed some light drop him an email (email in pm to follow).

Cheers.

It your a spectator as your name suggests forget this one and look for the next bottle.

If your desperate for one of these look at picking one up at Scotch Whisky Auctions in the next auction bound to be one, two or three in the next.

Wonder who is supplying him, can't see him getting the good stuff from distillers as I don't expect he'll be doing enough business to sell the standard stock he will have to take.

Re: Help in Locating some Whiskies

Loch fyne whisky had some rare Bushmills at some point, artist one pops into my head. If they did have them they were in the collectors loft, whether they were sold or removed for other older/rarer bottles I don't know but may be worth a call.

Otherwise watch whisky auction.com

Thanks Ganga, The only bottle I wouldn't mind seeing if still available when i'm there is the glenfiddich cask of dreams, but hopefully i'll find someone who can ship into FL. But in all honesty I don't think i'll be able to do much liquor store as these reunions get a bit epic, as i'm on the outsid...

Found a few online shops but there scotch listings tend to include blends with run of the mill stuff. Binnys I think I've looked at before- highland park ex I think.

We're flying out to Sanford, Florida in September then driving down to Venice Beach to stay with my better halfs family. Anyone know what's happened to this section of the actual magazine where John discussed bottles values and answerd our questions. It was always the first section I'd flick to to see what he'd dug up before Id set to reading the rest.

Unbelievable the shop is still online for Parkers, but it does give it away when there are no new recent releases. How's the website still going mind, I'm assuming he's still paying his host.

What goes round comes around I guess.

Fantastic bottles. If you bought at £20 a bottle and the urge is to sell consider Scotch Malt Whisky Auction, or if based in Europe WhiskyAuction.com who do free postage for sellers. Values if your on Facebook drop me a pm and I'll drop you a note which pages to look up. Never know if people on here...

Re: Distillery Only Bottles...

It depends where and when you are going.

Timing... If your going to Islay and it's around Feis Ile time all the Islay distilleries will have their own bottling.

But generally those that i know have bottles are

Bruichladdich
Aberlour
Glenfiddich

There a good few more but they escape me.

Re: Where to go to sell a single malt (non-scotch) whisky?

What bottle are you planning on selling? There are only really two auction houses in my opinion to sell at. Whisky Auction.com in Germany. If you email them they'll send you the postage labels so you save the cost. Then there is Scotch Whisky Auctions in Glasgow this you'd have to swallow the postag...

I read read and read what's hot and not in the Whisky world. As some have said three appears to the magic number, 1 to drink, 1 to keep, 1 to sell. Surprised a bank would support his second venture. I'm guessing he folded his old company meaning the debts died with that and didn't follow him. If the original co was in his name can you not put a bankruptcy petition on him personally.

Calvin,

It does appear worse than I had thought. Can people not go back through their credit card companies?

Is anyone living up there than can ask around?

Parkers is one I've always avoided whatever I have been after has been cheaper elsewhere.

Perhaps he has gone solely online, the money that can be saved if you didn't have premises to pay for and could work from home must be fairly large. Don't see any comments on moving to new premises.

There has been one of these on eBay for ages for £370 buy it now- nontakers no wonder at that price. You need a HP 12 in there, Auchentoshan Three Wood, Balvenie- not sure which one. Ransoms Ben Nevis- I like. Look at independents as well may get better ages and better prices. Perhaps look at getting a Big Peat something different.
