Note the use of "s" in criticising.

Re: Coopers choice 1989 Macallan 25 year old

One sold at auction for around £140, £123.20 after commission and VAT. Can't comment on it's appreciation value really but the indepandent bottlers like this usually appreciate slower than official bottlings - Maybe someone else know's more about this specific bottle but from my first look it doesn'...

Re: best whisky auction site in united kingdom

I much prefer whiskyauctioneer and justwhisky. Very logical reasons why, first rate customer service, low commission, no registration fee (£5 just to register....come on guys why would you pay this!) and they offer a great personal service. The new whisky.auction I am holding my breath on - its part...

Re: Ardbeg Provenance...

Which bottles specifically? Either way I would hope for something in the range of £950-£1200 The quote given above, £2250 is a bit high I think....Bonhams especially are unreliable as their prices include (high) commission and are notorious because of this. Furthermore Bonhams have pulled out of the...

Re: Whisky Valuation Dot Com

I understand all the arguments for including commission, I will have a think about it. I've had quite a bit of use now without any complaints so hopefully it is easy to use. I updated the data with a few recent auction results whilst uploading some new bottles (all of the port ellen annual releases ...

Re: Whisky Valuation Dot Com

Its not that I want to ignore the commission. It's that I can't handle the various different commission charges perfectly. I decided to simply detail the cost the whisky sold for at auction regardless of the commission charged to the buyer/sellers as I thought this was the most clear way to distingu...

Re: Whisky Valuation Dot Com

I have intentionally (so far) ignored commission when displaying the bottle sale values. This is because it varies between the auction sites and the commission percentage changes depending on whether you are buying (10% +) or selling (0% +). The values I display are purely the value paid before any ...

Whisky Valuation Dot Com

Hi, I created a little website, as a hobby  , http://whiskyvaluation.com/ I would quite like your input. I have taken data from a number of auctions sites and compiled it into my own database. I am currently linking the lots from the database to bottles of whisky to create statistics for valu...

Re: Drink or Keep - Bowmore Devils Cask

Yeah, unfortunately it was quite difficult to get hold of in the UK - I think I tried almost 10 places as it was recommended as a potential investment. Once I got hold of one I couldn't decide what to do. I am watching a few at online auctions, they are going for almost 75% more than I paid so i may...

Re: auction sites

Surely it just adds value to the market, increased competition should lower costs etc to customers. I have been reviewing http://www.whiskyauctioneer.com and think it is great, I am currently bidding on a number of lots. (1964 Bowmore Trilogy - think i'll remortgage the house as its worth the cost)....

Re: Selling whisky -

http://www.whiskyauctioneer.com is live now and are offering 0% comissions charge to sellers. Think I will use them. Wish I could afford some of the lots.

BTW I have another question - should I sell a few ardbeg bottles, I am wondering if the still/very young have reached a good price
