Usually discontinued items go UP in price Not on this side of the big pond, the last bottles of many types of liquor normally end up in a bargain bin even SMW, specially if they've been sitting there for a long time taking up shelf space. I've even found (and bought) Ardbeg '77 in a bargain bin! Ch...

Re: Plans for Scotch, Edinburgh and Scotland

For purchasing suggestions I'd definately go for some of the expressions that a) can only be purchased in person from the distillery eg Blair Athol, Glendronach and/or b) 'fill your own' straight from the cask eg at Aberlour(best value tour by far),Glendronach, Benromach. Thanks for the tip on the ...

I love Edinburgh, my favorite city outside of the USA. You can find a lot of "liquor barns" in town , but Cadenheads is my favorite and if your wanting something that isn't available in the US that's the place to get it. While you can get quite a few whisky distillers in the US usuall...

13 ~17 yr old Port Ellens are what started my love affair with PE. A particular 18yr old '83 Scott's Selection is an exceptional teenager. One man's trash is another man's gem.

There is also a Cadenhead shop in London and you could do a lot worse than pick up a bottle of their 8yo CS Port Cask Hazelburn. It's really good. I'd also recommend the Cadenhead's shop, they haven't been available on this side of the pond since the turn of the century. Whenever I'm in the U.K. (u...

I love their vintages, mainly 70's and 80's. I've had the '74 29yo, '79 31yo, '84 and '85 20yo's. The 90's I've tried the '91 (Spicy) and '94 (smoother and honeyed). Glenrothes is one of the few distilleries of where I'd rather have them as OB's as opposed to my fav IB's.
