feedback on WhiskyAuctioneer?

Hi all. Back after a long hiatus! Hope everyone's been well. :D I'm thinking about selling a few bottles on WhiskyAuctioneer. What's been everybody's experience with them? Any recommendations for a better alternative? (I'm in the US, if that makes any difference...) Pls feel free to PM me if you pre...

Nick, I thought your favorite was the 53.5% HP 25. What happened?? :D If I paid $70 for a Springer 21, I'd want to share it with all my friends on the forum! :P :P Well, my favourite HP25 is the 53.5% and when asked I usually forget the S21 as I can't afford it any more... Re: "Right Place, Right Time"

I recently walked into what used to be a fairly run down liquor store that had changed ownership. The former owners had a decent selection of dusty malts, but the place was so cluttered it was difficult to find anything. It was clear the new owners were a lot more organized. In fact, they were offe...

Re: "Regrets, I've had a few."

I have a couple of different takes on this. One, I probably bought too many whiskies because I got caught up in the frenzy of it all, and now I have no idea when I'll actually drink them. But more along the lines of what the OP was talking about, I wish I bought more of the HP 21 before they dropped...

Lagavulin 21 or Laphroaig 30 for trade

I'm still looking for the 47.5% version of the Highland Park 21yo and would be willing to trade either the Lagavulin or Laphroaig for it. Maybe 3 bottles of the HP for one of either? Re: Islay Strength?

I remember the Lagavulin DE like it was yesterday. I didn't really like it. The peat explosion was huge but so were the sherry influences. Drammed, when I started exploring whiskies, I concentrated on sherried ones and when I tried my first Lagavulin, the peat was too over the top for me. (Doesn't ...

Bottles of both strengths are mixed together so have to pay attention to what version you get. (no differentation apart from the abv marking - so same price wichever version you buy - approx 80€ if I remember correctly) Hmm, sounds like a perfect opportunity. Get all the 47.5% you want and then g...

40% HP 21yo??

Has anyone tried the 40% version of the Highland Park 21yo yet? Conventional wisdom would seem to indicate that the 47.5% version is clearly superior, but is that really the case? Is the difference really substantial or are we splitting hairs here? :headbang: Would love to hear any and all comments....

Stumbled across a nice pub in Colorado that served flights. I took the plunge on Cragganmore 12, Glenfiddich 12, Glenlivet 15 and Glenrothes 15? (don't know for sure). The other flight was Singleton 12, Scapa 14, Aberlour A'bunadh 27 and Bunnahabhain 12. My fave was the A'bunadh with the Glenrothes ...

I would echo what Ganga said about the HPs.

Although the 19yo and 15yo are about the same abv (53.8% and 53.6%), the 15yo seems too heavy handed and does not carry the alcohol that well. The 19yo is much better.

Strictly speaking, IMO, Tali 10 and Laga 16 are two totally different malts and you may or may like one or the other better on their own merits. Cheers My thoughts exactly. +1. I get more salt on the Talisker and much more smoke on the Lagavulin. Very different whiskies and will never be mistaken f...
