Re: The Glenlivet 18 year old

Glenlivet 18 is nice (smooth, caramel, fruit, med. length finish). Not on the same level as HP 18 or Mac 18. Just doesn't have the same level of refinement and complexity.

Probably worth the price which is about $85 out my way.

Re: A'bunadh #42

I liked it, but thought it had a flaw: Nose : Orange zest, spices, gravy browning. Classic A'Bunadh with a trace of sulphur. I've always liked this stuff. Taste : More sulphur emerges on the palate, but its bearable. Lots of cinnamon and cardamom with underlying sugar. Finish : Spiced rubber. The s...

A'bunadh #42

Happy, Healthy, New Year to All. I just wanted to share this with other A'bunadh fans. I haven't tasted a really good A'bunadh in a couple of years; Last night I tasted A'bunadh Batch #42, and it was absolutely delicious. Caramel, raisins, sherry, pears, apples, fruitcake, sweet and some nice heat (...

Re: The Macallan

I was never a fan of the "Fine Oaks". My favorite is Mac 18/ Sherried. I have found variations in vintages, but have always enjoyed the sweet, and complex sherried monster. Albeit, $$$$. I am working on the "89" now, and it is sweet, and rich! Don't give up on the Mac 12. I find ...

...My first A'Bunadh so I don't have a reference point but I like it alot, even moreso than the Aberlour 18. Rich, sweet, notes of orange peel, cherries, and baking spices. Really nice Winter whisky, makes me wish I had a fireplace. .... Welcome to A'bunadh. Certainly a great sherried dram! I have ...

Thanks Mikey, and Ganga:

Glad to hear the 92's are nice!

That's why I like Mac 18 for that rich, sweet, sherry influence; but my 1989 bottles had a little oak/bitterness in the finish. Happy to hear it's not in the 1992's, I'll be stocking up this week.

Macallan 18/ 1992

Hello Gentlemen-- Greetings to all! I'm re-stocking Macallan 18, and my local shops are selling "1992". I am wondering if anyone has tasted this, and if you had any input or notes on the 92? I'm just finishing off my last bottle of Mac 18 which is "1989", which was sweet, creamy,...

HP 18 dumpy bottle Sean: You are lucky to find some of the older HP's, definitely tastier than the contemporary bottling. I'm working on a tall pour of Highland Park 18 also (newer bottle).
